I had the same problem...try this:

Right click on the Start file on the CD and choose the "Run as administrator" selection and it should work. Enjoy!

Right-click the shortcut and select "run as administrator". This error happens because changes within the system directory can't be made unless admin privileges are engaged. Old software breaks a lot of rules in Vista.

You can also default the program to run as admin by going to the compatibility tab in properties for that shortcut.

How can I get the disc to play on a windows vista 7 hp computer

There are a couple ways you can do it , first try " Windows XP Mode for Windows 7 " , this will link you to Microsoft's Direct Download Page , once you have it downloaded , install it & reboot your pc . You should then be able to install the disc in the virtual xp enviroment . Another option is trying the built in compatibility mode , place the disc in the pc , open the disc's main folder using windows explorer . Then right click on the executable file ( normally named setup.exe ) select properties from the drop down menu , click the compatibility tab , select run in " windows xp sp2 " mode & check the box at the bottom " run as adminstrator " . If you are unable to install it after trying both of these methods leave me a message here with a email adress or instant messenger id so I can contact you directly .

Reader rabbit software won't install

If you are attempting to install this under Windows Vista or Windows 7, it may be a compatibility issue. Open computer and right click on the cd/dvd drive and click 'explore'. Then look for 'Setup' or 'Setup.exe' and right click on it and click properties. Go to the compatibility tab and check the box next to 'Run this program in compatibility for' and select either Windows XP (any service pack) or Windows 98 if that does not work. Also check the box next to 'Run this program as administrator' and click 'OK' at the bottom. Now you should be able to run Setup.exe and install the program.

TI Interactive will not install on Windows 7. It just keeps determining disk space requirements and does not get any further

Try doing a "silent" installation.

Click the Start button
Click the Run button
Type cmd then press enter
In the command box type the drive letter for your CD Rom Drive, followed by a colon (example, D:) then press enter
Type tiinteractive.exe /quiet then press enter
Wait 5 minutes then close the command box
TI interactive should be now installed

If it doesn't work, e-mail me at

Installation problem with Sibelius 5 on Vista

You don't say what the nature of the installation problem is, but you should make sure you are logged into your computer as an Administrator user. You could also try clicking the 'Browse this disc' button in the menu that appears when you insert the DVD-ROM, go into the Windows/Sibelius folder and right-click SibeliusEnglishInstaller.msi in order to choose 'Run as Administrator'.

If you are still having problems, contact Sibelius technical support using the email address and phone numbers provided in the 'Latest information and technical help' sheet in your Sibelius 5 box.

How to download microsoft powerpoint on windows vista

sounds like soemthing has broken the file association with the files you are trying to open in explorer.
First of all, make sure it IS a powerpoint file you are trying to open.
second of all, there is a method in which you can try to recreate the file association:
1.) right click on the file you are trying to open and choose Open With -> Choose program
2.) if PowerPoint Viewer is in the list, click on it, make sure "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is enabled, then press OK. the program will open and read the file. exit out of it and open the file again to test to see if this works.
If it isn;t on the "programs" list of the Open With Menu, you will have to find it. Click on "Browse", search for the program, select "open", make sure "always use the seelcted program" is checked off, and press OK. close the application thats starts and run again to test.
Hope this helps, alsthough this was posted a far ways back.
