I have plasma tv thats has been getting the pink bands across the screen when the image on screen is bright. It gets worse when cell light is turned up in addition to brightness.

You need to check all voltages there is a sticker on the back of the screen with various voltages these need checking with a digital meter.

Lack of Brightness All controls adjusted to maximum

You don't say what kind, I know on DLP tv's the bulb will get weak and eventually burn out,. Otherwise sounds like it's not getting enough power you need a tv repairman to put it on the computer to diagnose

Sanyo dp26640 picture is dim

Try adjusting the Backlighting. With the new LCD/LED TV's the brightness control actually does very little to brighten the picture. If adjusting the BACKLIGHT setting doesn't improve it and it's out of warranty, then you're apt to discover that if it's even repairable that the cost of repair could easily exceed what you paid for it when it was new.

This is unfortunately one of the hard lessons associated with shopping for flat screen TVs. Regardless of what they cost when new, they all have one thing in common in that they can be very expensive to repair, often times resulting in the low cost/economy models being "throw-aways" when they develop problems. This makes the extended warranties sometimes worth the extra cost, as long as you realize thet the E/W has a maximum total claims pay-out equal to the amount you paid for the set when new. Example, if you buy a $300 TV and then get an ext'd warr. for it, then have a $200 repair claim, that leaves you with only $100 remaining coverage. That's how Ext'd warranties work.

Voire 46" plasma tv- best color settings, to much white

The proper way to set flat screen tv's is opposite of old school CRT tv. First, find a movie with dark scenes and pause on a really dark part. Now set brightness only high enough to see some detail - no more. then go to a really bright scene and set contrast just high enough for good brightness. You may need to go back and forth a few times to get good setting.

Why do i have to have the brightness set at 100% or you cant see the picture

If baklight CCFL tubes become weak, the brightness will be very weak. Now you can see the picture with least brighness. So it is sure that, the backlight inverter board is working well. Just check the CCFL lamps. For a 37 inch LCD tv may have atleast 14 CCFL lamps. When replacing, do replace all at one time. OK.

Too much bright

there are controls in remote by which we can decrease the brightness. u did not mentioned if they are working. try to decrease brightness by pressing the menu of remote & going to picture controls & find brightness control there.

if above function not controlling the brightness of tv, there may be fault in lcd panel of your tv. which may be diagnose only after seeing exact condition of picture.

Whats the best settings to have for best picture with this t.v. meaning brightness,sharpness,ect...

You should NOT have to turn CONTRAST up to more than 70%....brightness controll should be set MUCH lower......sharpness should be adjusted left or right to get rid of graininess(sp) of picture... turn color all the way down then move up according to how you like colour!
