Assuming you have set all your ISP's connection details correctly eg PPOE or PPOA, VC-MUX etc, double check you username and password, check your adsl filter and check there is no line noise on the phone line. It could be that the router needs reseting by way of a small reset hole at the rear of the router or it may well be that your ISP's server is down.

I lost my support CD and now I have only router WRT 54G2. I have taken up a new connection & need to setup in my laptop which has microsft XP intalled. Kindly advise

Router setup
You do not have to use the cd.

Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Setting up linksys wireless router with motorola 2210 dsl modem

Hello,

First set up WAN side access to the internet. For this you need information about your internet service provider. Please respond with your internet service provider's name or better yet a link to their help/support website.

I assume you already have access to configure the router at 192.168.1.1 if not please do the following. Open Internet explorer and enter 192.168.1.1 where you would enter fixya.com and press enter -- do web pages appear in your screen from the wired computer. If so we have manual access to configure the router...

hope this helps you..

Thank you!!...

My phone dsl line went down for 4 days. Once repaired, it seems like my router doesn't hook up with my modem. My computure say connected singnal strenght excellent but no connection to the internet. If I...

Possible reason why you lost the connection with your DSL line is that the router's configuration was changed. To reconfigure your Linksys router, you need to connect your computer wired to the router.
Open a Web Browser (IE, Firefox etc.) on the wired computer and type http://192.168.1.1 and press Enter. On the Username box leave it blank and on the password box type in admin. You will then see the router's configuration page. Under the Basic Setup tab you will see Internet Connection type on the left side of the screen. Click on the down arrow button and select PPoE, type in the Username and password that was provided by your DSL Internet service provider. Once your done click on the Save setting button on the bottom of the screen. Click on the Status tab on the top of the screen. Click on the Connect button and check if you will have an IP address on the Internet IP address option. If a valid IP address is present then you should have an internet connection then.

Router setup
If you are using the cd that comes with the router, that is the problem. You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

You have DSL, so you need to access the router's setup page and put your username and password in the PPOe settings.
See this page for instructions:

Also, your DSL provider is a good source of tech support and they will help you set it up.

Downloads locks up - Belkin N1 Wireless Router

I had the same problem. My Belkin N1 Router was constantly dropping the WiFi connection (every few minutes). I tried several solutions I found on different forums:
Change the channel selection from Auto to a specific channel -- I tried all 13 channels, but no improvement.

Update the firmware to the latest (Beta) version -- still no improvement.

Finally I enabled "Protected Mode" and the connection seems fine now. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Trying to hookup a wireless router to HP 1100

DSL uses PPOE, which may be different than what you had previously. Cable, for example, uses TCP/IP.
Re-set the router to defaults, and follow the instructions for PPOE, which should be in your manual or setup disk. Your ISP may have this info on their site, or you can get it at the Netgear site:
