We actually have the same issue. This happened after the unit was about 8 months old and the unit was left on accidentally and the battery drained. We've tried re-charging it, using a different charger, even trying a new battery and it still doesn't work. When trying to charge it, the charging light comes on for a couple of seconds and then goes off. The unit will not power up at all.

Kids were playing and it just shut off. Would only go to orange light when tried turning it on while on the charger, but after taking battery out and checking amps, no lights at all. Any help out there?

I have exactly the same problem with a unit 18 months old, have tried the battery and charger on another console and they both work fine. I would appreciate any other suggestions.

I found out it is the fuse that has blown on my ds,unfortunately I jumped in 2 quick and have had 2 pay £35 for someone 2 repair it when I could have bought a fuse from e bay for £2.98 and my uncle could have fixed it,so if u know of anyone who knows what they r doing then its cheap enough 2 fix yourself

My DS Lite wont charge! Help!

Try another charger, yours may be faulty. Alternatively, the battery may need replacing as it is no longer holding charge, these can be obtained very inexpensively from Ebay and you will just need a small cross head screwdriver to remove the cover on the back of the DS lite, then tap the unit in your hand to dislodge and remove the battery.

My Nintendo DS quit playing sound through the speakers. It only has sound through headphones. One minute it was working then the battery went dead. After I plugged it to the charger the sound does not...

Try leaving the DS on until the battery dies, then charge it all of the way with the DS off. If that doesn't work, I would call Nintendo customer service. They are excellent at helping people with problems just like this. Here is the 800 number I got off of their website. 1-800-895-1672

Your DS is either fully charged or the battery got damaged/wet. When you play the DS, is the light red or flash red? If it does, then the problem is with your battery. http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/repair/dslite_repair_home.jsp
Click on your country, then "System and Game Problems," then "Power and Battery Charging Problems."
Hope this helped.

Ds lite charging lite comes on but when i press power button nothing happens

Are you leaving the DS charge until the light comes off? Remember that there are two likes too, one for charging and one for power. If you're just charging for some random period of time (lets say... One hour) then your Battery isn't going to be fully charged. The best way to ensure that your DS Lite is charged is to leave it charge until the charge light turns off. You can play your DS Lite while you are charging (I do it all the time), but it just means that you're just running off of the outlet.

A good test is to charge it fully (until the charge light comes off), unplug the charger cord (Make sure it's secured tightly to your DS while charging), then play for a little bit, your light should be a normal color (green).

If you cannot even play by using the outlet, then you need to
find a charger cord that actually works (You may need to send in the charger for replacement). If the same thing happens with 2 different batteries (assuming that you have two official Nintendo batteries).

TIP: Also run your fingers across the Charger cord. You're going to get a slight friction burn from the rubber, but you're going to get all of the kinks out of the wire in the cord. My charger cord had a similar problem (did not charge all the way, only charged until I moved the DS) but when I ran my fingers across it (pinching) it worked again.

Also check the pins in both charger cords, charging will not work if one pin is missing, nor if any are bent.

DS LITE

Ok, then is either that both chargers you used are faulty, or more likely there is a contact in the power charger socket on your nintendo. check it it is moving or not well in place, eventually you will need to chaeck the contacts of charger socket on board inside the DS, the contact must be near there. Until you do not fix it, connecting the charger may be dangerous for your DS .

Ds light not coming on and charger not working

When I hooked up my DS with the charger the orange light would flicker for only a few seconds then turn off.

I found out that if you KEEP THE DS ON WHILE HOOKED UP the DS will charge. Although, because you are playing/DS is on the charging will go extremely slowly.

Best option, and what I did, was was just return/exchange it. I just did that today.
