Kodak Printer will not Print Red Ink

Accidentally, I posted this under the Kodak 5500 when in fact my printer is the 5100. Either way it refuses to print Red Ink so everything looks basically green when it prints. I just replaced both ink cartridges, ran all of the troubleshooting tools, but I still cant get it to work properly.

My printer first started not printing red it doesn't print anything at all.

I have run both a calibration, and a deep cleaning of the printerhead and went ahead and replaced my color cartridge, black is fine. When I print any color photos they are in a greenish blue hue and all reds appear yellowish or orange. What else can I do?

    Call the help desk 1-800-421-6699
I have had this problem in the past they sent a new printhead and now it is 6 months later, the problem is happening again. Printhead issues galore with this model.
Too bad because you can't beat the price of the kodak ink.

You have to contact Kodak to be sent a new printhead to fix the problem. You click through the support on Kodak and then they automatically send out a new print head. To get the link to this on-line support chat with the live tech support and they can direct you where to go to find this solution. I dont remember the web link they directed me to but once there I answered a bunch of questions and got a new printhead in the mail pretty quick (no cost to me) and as of yet its been fixed.

I've already had the printhead replaced on my AiO 5100. I haven't used it for a couple of weeks, and the printhead is blocked AGAIN. Surfing around, it appears this is a serious fault of this printer model...

Clean the printhead, then print a demo sheet.

    1. Verify that inkjet paper is loaded in the paper trays.
    2. On your desktop, start the KODAK All-in-One Home Center, then select the Help [?] icon.
    3. From the Help menu, select Maintenance, then select Printhead Cleaning. The On/Off light flashes green during the cleaning procedure.
    4. When the On/Off light glows a steady green, press Photo and Copy simultaneously to print a demo sheet.

Is the Demo printout giving the same result?

If so, you may need to replace the printhead. This is a very common problem with this model.

I have three Kodak printers; 2 - 5300's and 1 - 5100. All three are on the third set of print heads AND THEY ARE STARTING TO FAIL. Is it the print head or ink formulation? I suggest a class action law...

if the print head has been replaced thrice then it could be a ink cartridge problem coz there are number of look alike and refilled ink sold by retailers.......print head comes in contact with paper so make sure if the thickness of the paper is more then it might damage the print head..........always use kodak inkjet paper not any other Hp or anyother daily use paper..........if you are good with both the ink cartridge and paper then contact kodak tech support..........

Printer Problem on Multiple Printers: As if low ink on both

The printhead has dried out and you need to contact kodak to get a replacement, they may do this under warranty. The same thing has happened twice now with my AIO 5500, I guess the problem is if you don't print very often, the ink dries out in the printhead itself, not the cartridges.

Our Kodak 5100 printer will not stop a red light flashing on ink

How often do you use the printer? I have the same problems with a Kodak AIO 5500. Go to the "Help Center" section of the website. This will lead you through troubleshooting and if the printhead is bad they should send you a new one under warranty. This is what I did.

Our kodak 5100 printer wont print red

just open home center and click on the question mark on the top right and click on maintenance in the right and click on clean print head.............if you still get the same issue then just take both the ink cartridges out and on their side there is a number and just reply me back with that number and i will let you know if its genuine ink cartridge or not.........coz there are lot of look alike and refilled ink cartridges in the market which you wont be able to make out............

Kodak 5500 printer won't print red

I also have this same problem. What works to a degree is to take out print head and SOAK IN WARM WATER. This will take out most all the ink residue and debris. Then dry off and reinstlal immediately. This worked for me but a month later, NO BLACK!
