Old monitor not recognized by new computer, stuck in power save.

I just bought a low-end machine from Ibuypower for my parents, to be used primarily for the internet, word processing, and work purposes, nothing complicated. But their old Dell UltraSharp 17'' monitor will not display anything. It's in its powersave mode while the computer boots up, but does not seem to begetting any kind of signal otherwise. I've used both the VGA and DVI hookups, neither have produced any change or response. The monitor was working just fine yesterday with the old Dell PC; there is no other monitor or PC available for me to test the monitor or new Ibuypower system with; I am writing this from a crappy ancient laptop I found in storage, circa 1998ish. I have also switched the monitor between digital and analog mode several times, but it remains in powersave. Wiggling the mouse or hitting any key like it says to bring it out of power save has not worked, although I know the keyboard and mouse are working because even blindly I have been able to click on and open things on the desktop of the new computer.

I have respectable computer knowledge so you don't need to dumb-down responses for me too much - yes, the power's on and it's plugged in and all the usual stuff. I'm just perplexed because I've never had a problem with a monitor before, certainly not as silly as ''plugged it in and it doesn't work''.

I have a Dell Dimension e521 desktop that has gone into energy save mode after I ran Norton security check.. Pressing any key or clicking the mouse doesn't do anything. The screen is black and says...

you may find you have the screen resolution set to high, try changing to 1024x768 and try again. if this works it means your monitor ain't up to the job of your better machines.

How do i connect my hdmi cable from my ibuypower desktop to my sansung led tv?

Make sure the input on the TV is set to hdmi port 2. If it doesn't automatically view on the TV, you have to go into the graphics card adapter settings to set the view to an alternate monitor (your TV). Normally there's also a hotkey command as well (normally one of the F# keys) to switch between displays

I'm wondering how do I do a factory restore on my ibuypower wa500d3 PC I am getting a dll error and need to restore it for other problems (unwanted progams ect.)

use system restore click on : start / all programs / accessories / system tools / system restore
unless you got a factory system restore cd when you bought the computer with it, you could re-install a new copy of windows and install your drivers too

I have a John Lewis baby monitor, which is less than a year old. The parent unit is unable to link to the baby unit. Batteries seem to be in working order. Thanks. Jackie

Less than a year old = go for a warranty repair or replace, Use the warranty while you can as you'll end up with either a working or new unit.

I just bought an "iBUYPOWER

call ibuypower technical support. if you brought it from them
if it's under warranty call the company you brought it from.
if you try to fix it yourself, the may not take it back. and keep your money.
that being said make sure your monitor is plug in the right port from the picture I saw on newegg, they have two ports that it can plug into a blue vga port or a white dvi. you want to plug into the one on video card.

I bought a new computer and it isn't recognizing my monitor (blank screen)

Most monitors use software that you load onto the new computer. Look for a disk or hook up the old PC to download it.

In power save mode

I just bought my first computer. After the tech set it up and left I used it to become familiar with Windows. Then I did not have the time to reuse it for about a month. All I get is the same "power save mode" message on monitor then it goes blank.

Can anyone provide an answer as to why this occurred and what I can do about it? It's a barnd new HP 6130 Pavilion desktop.
Why do we need these machines if you can't control them? Nothing in the limited problem guide for the PC even addresses power save mode. HELP!!!!!!!

Samsung Syncmaster 245BW, can't get it up and running !

Most of the time when this happens it is due to a bad monitor, if you have another pc try to hook this monitor up to that one to see if it actually works, these monitors sometimes get damaged during shipment!
