You have to use the remote control and hit the "N/P" button on the bottom row, last one on the left. That should fix your problem.

You have to hit the "N/P" button on your remote. It's located on the bottom row, very last button on your left. That should fix your problem.

I have a Bluray/DVD reader LG BD650 aquired in Europe and I cannot read DVDs from US and Latin America. How to proceed to either change or remove zone code?

Yeah, the video system in US and Latin America is NTSC, but in Europe is PAL, so when you play DVD from US or Latin America, you need to change the video system from NTSC to PAL.

Will only play back in black and white. How to fix this?

You may have the wrong setting, depending on whether your TV is PAL or NTSC. Check the settings for the DVD recorder and make sure your TV is the same (PAL/SECAM for Europe, NTSC for America). If you connect via the scart lead, then set the unit to output RGB. Also check that your lead is OK.

What format is used when the VHS is copied to the DVD ? I have copied the VHS tapes onto Verbatim DVD-R discs. They will not play on my computer. Verbatim says I need to know what format they are in...

the most common in the US is NTFS. another used in other countrys is PAL. the format is seperated into regions, and they are as follows,
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use
REGION 8 -- Reserved for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...
REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.

you can use MAGICdvdRIPPER softwareon your computer, it works with NTSC, and PAL formats and vice versa.

Won't play PAL DVDs

The Pal system is used in England and parts of Europe and operates at a higher resolution rate, and even if you could run it the image would come across as a negative going picture. The system is not compatible with the North American System to work under these conditions.

You have PAL DVDs and in the US DVDs are read in NTSC. You will need a region-free player, not the DVD-V9700

Only black and white

If you are playing different region dvds, they can be of different color formats also
(US = NTSC, Europe = PAL). If your television is not multi-format then non-compatible
DVDs will play black and white. The solution is to purchase a mutli-format TV (accepts
both PAL and NTSC formats)

Functionality in Europe

Hey taliadoros,

According to the manufacturer, this particular model appears to allow filming in NTSC format only. Unfortunately this means that in order to play any video footage recorded on this camcorder, the device being used to play the footage back would also need to be NTSC-compliant.

Please keep in mind that while some electronics sold in Europe may be both NTSC and PAL-compliant, it cannot be guaranteed that footage filmed using your camcorder will be compatible with all multi-format model devices.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
