SOURCE: Device not recognized by computer

Hi RPSS,

Make sure the Tomtom unit is properly seated in the cradle and that there are no velcro strips etc preventing it from pushing down fully into the socket (if improperly seated the unit can still charge, and sometimes ask for a connection, but won't be able to connect properly to the computer).

SOURCE: Iv got an backup issue with my tomtom one.after

I do some work with TomTom - it's possible that if something interrupted or went wrong during the install, the map could have been deleted. TomTom is aware of the problem and is working to fix it - if you are map-less, call support (866 486 6866) and we can work on getting you a new map.

SOURCE: my new computer WINDOWS 7 does not recognize my

Does your Win7 computer recognize any USB devices? If not, this is a device problem.

There could be a problem with the cord. You may need to replace it.

First thing I'd do is download and install the latest version of Tom Tom Home.

Get it here: http://www.tomtom.com/services/service.php?id=16&tab=87

Let us know if any of this works.

SOURCE: Windows 7 64 bit does

Windows 7 is a new operating system, it does not support so many applications, softwares and files, Therefore, not being able to use your tom tom on your windows 7 should not come as a surprise to you as windows 7 does not support so many kind of softwares.
Try your tom tom video converter on another operating system and am very certain it will work there, except if there is a problem with the converter itself. Try it out on windows vista, windows XP etc.
Best regards

Windows 7 will not recognize my tom tom go 630

Lots of folks having this problem with differernt model TomToms. It's the USB on the TomTom.

You'll need to "reset" the unit, using a paperclip or narrow pen, hold the reset button in for about 5 seconds and you should be good to go. On the 630 it's on the bottm, right next to the USB port.

Hope this helps!

Product codes for go 630- no maps

You need to contact either the place you bought the device or TomTom... probably the place you bought the device because they gave you a defective one. It should already have a map on it and it should ask you to "update" it when you login to TomTom home.

When I plug in my Tom Tom 630 to the computer, it says the device is not recognized. It also seems to take longer to access the GPS signal. Any help is appreciated. Freddie

I just called TomTom support, I was instructed to hold the reset button on the bottom of the unit for 15 seconds and then reconnect the GPS to my computer. It worked, TomTom Home opened and I was able to apply the updates.

Hi,

First turn your firewall off (if you have one).
You need to go into your 630 with the TomTom Home software and erase the downloaded software (with the remove items from my device) and reset the device (little reset button under the unit keep it pressed for 5 seconds), place it back in the cradle and restart your computer and than restart the 630 ,

Bring the TomTom Home program up, and when the TomTom Home software in your computer restarts and detects the 630 it will tell you that you need to update the application, if it doesn't than you force the update by going to the add maps option, select items on my computer, select applications and press the add button,

when done, go back and to device (option in top of your screen) and select disconnect device, restart your 630 and it should be back to life with the upgraded software.

Hope this Should solve your problem else Call their tech support at no charge (866-486-6866, Glen) , really good service
