Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook
I've had my Acer Aspire 3000 for a pretty long time now. I'd thought it was beyond any kind of repair after my siblings started using it and proceeded to clog it up with a bunch of stuff. I reformatted it, and it works like a dream now.
Except the fan doesn't work at all anymore. I've taken it apart and found the fan very easily. I used air duster to clean it out, and even a vacuum hose and a brush. The fan is probably cleaner now that it's ever been. In any case, at one point while I was looking at the fan and its port, the fan started up, but quickly stopped working a split second later. I can't tell if there's a problem with the fan itself, or just the port that the fan plugs into.
In either case, what solutions might there be for both instances?
Most fans run on 12volts DC, remove the fan and connect it to a 12volt power supply, if it spins freely then it is OK and the fault is with the laptop, if not replace it.
