Remote control My TV and VCR work fine the remote does not work. I tried a universal and it still did not work, Is it worth trying a new Toshiba remote and where do I get one if it would.
My Toshiba MV13P2 TV/ VCR combo works fine. The remote does not work. I tried also a remote control that is universal and still did not work. There are also many universal remotes that will work. Just make sure to research and make sure you select a model that has codes for combination TV/VCR units. Many manuals and code lists are available online from their manufacturer. There are some remotes that do not handle combination units.
Do you still have the instruction booklet for the Tv? Find the remote codes and try re-programming the remote. If this still happens try programming an after market universal remote. Hope this helps.
Use the remote's "Code search" feature. It'll run through every code in it's database and when you see the player turn off, you store the code. If non of the codes work, then it's not compatible.
I had this problem with my TV/VCR combo unit (Samsung CXC1972) after losing the remote while in the dorms. I tried a few different universal remotes and dozens of codes before I tried the Philips 3 device universal remote as pictured below with code 037 programmed into the VCR/DVD button. I can't change the volume with this code but the input key switches between line in and tv. You can also change the channel, access the menu and operate the VCR functions with the code. I bought the remote for less than $10 at Walmart so it might be worth a try, and if it doesn't work you can always bring it back. Hope this helps.

I bought a Toshiba remote on line (expensive) but it works great. Problem solved.
