I got the tv today and my friend said the part would only cost $40 or $50 to fix is this correct? The picture is all white when it first comes on and is still white when the hdmi is plugged into satellite. The volume works and the screen is crisp but it just doesnt have any color coming through just all white with a glare. Some red and blue comes in sometimes but most of the time its all white.
I would lean towards the t-con board. They are probably in the $40-$50 range.

I had the same problem with my LTP227W and it is also about 4 years old. Took it in to be fixed and they found it was two capacitors in the power supply. Parts for this TV are not available anymore but they were able to repair the power supply. The TV works fine now. Hopefully I can get another four years out of this. Repair cost was $150.

Wow same here but mine is red I know its because of the plasma bulb is wearing out and for my fix is $1000 but I didn't do want to go on so I tried to change the color settings and tried RGB to all 0 and it became fine. Well at least you have a cool blue screen, mine is red.

there is a soloenoid type switch that fires the TV up this has failoed. its like a neon or fluoresecent tube that has a faulty starter switch light tries and tries but never quite makes it when it does get going it has that purple smear in the tube. that is the simple explanation for your problem. part is about $60 labor is unkinown as i am not in USA but looking at some of the rip off charges I am glad i dont have the bill
