Go to Avaira.com and download there repair tool, put it on a disk
or a flash drive and run it in dos, thats before windows starts.

The tool will search for virus, rootkits, trojans.

Avira is the # 2 top anti-virus there is on planet, there tool is a free
download. If this is a virus, avaira will kill it, this will do nothing
if there are bad sectors on the hard drive and it won't boot.

No need to pull hdd.

I have just installed a new hard disc in my samsung x05 but keep getting an error message coming up saying windows (xp) has been shut down etc then kernel_data_inpage_error, followed by atapi.sys - address...

Well if it does that you should make sure all media is unplugged from the computer. If you have the Windows XP Original Release disk insert it and re-install Windows XP. If still says the same error "operating system not found" take it to a computer specialist near you or go on another computer and contact www.microsoft.com, thats all I can say.

Operating system not found

This means it cannot find the Windows OS files because either:-
The hard disk has failed or it needs reseating.
or the hard disk controller has failed.
or the Windows files have been deleted or corrupted (maybe by virus)

Try reseating the hard drive.
If the hard disk is faulty, you need a new one.
Try using your recovery CD disk.
Try re-installing Windows

Hi there, it sound like a computer virus or trogan virus; it is a malicious program. You need to use an Anti-Virus or Anti-trogan program to get rid of it.

It could also be software problem like a corrupted file in your Operating System.

You should first format your hard drive and try it first and see what happens.
By formatting your hard drive, and re installing your Operating System, should correct the problem.

If not use the Anti-virus or Anti trogan program.

Computer is infected with viruses

Blue screens as a result of infection mean the virus has corrupted the operating system. You can fix it by doing an operating system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. Depending on the virus, this may only be a temporary fix. If this turns out to be a temporary fix, then the sure way to fix it is to completely wipe the hard drive, completely reformat using NTFS, and reload the operating system, which I would recommend. If you have any problems during or after the reload, then the virus damaged the hard drive and it will need to be replaced.
