Change the screen resolution to different proportions, sounds like you may have set to 1208 x 768 a more appropriate setting would be 1024 x 768 however switch between the different settings until you find one you like

I have a new Acer X203H 20" wide computer monitor. All of my photos are streched wide, and everyone looks fat. Can I adjust this ?

You need to set the PC video resolution to 1600 x 900 for proper 16:9 wide screen format. But if your pictures that you taken with your camera were not 16:9, IE 4 X 5 then it will be stretched side way to fill the screen.

Photographs do not look normal on this monitor.

this is not monitor dependent. It depends on the graphics software that you use, try to keep your proportions locked with your graphics software.

example when you want to increase the size of an image drag it from a corner and not from the side.

Asus VW192 19'' monitor stretches the picture

have you set the resolution to the max of the monitor? 19 inchers usually need 1440x900.

to do so go to control panel and display properties then slide the slider to the max, apply and exit.

hope that helps

Display appearing stretched

the original image size was probably recorded in 4:3 aspect ratio...meaning your widescreen is a 16:9 ratio size screen and is stretching it outwards to fill the whole screen. If you want the image to look normal.. ie. not short and fat people.... you need to change the picture size in the settings from widescreen 16:9 to normal 4:3 tv in the settings menu most likely...Also most remotes will/should have a button for that.

Oblong pictures

The issue here is that you have a low resolution picture and a high resolution display. Windows is "stretching" the smaller, low resolution picture so that it will fit across the larger area, thus distorting it. Right click on the desktop and select properties. Go to the Desktop tab. There should be an item there for position. Is it set to Stretch? If it is, then this is causing the problem. Set it to center, and it should appear fine. If you want to keep this from happening: 1) User higher resolution pictures. 2) Turn down the resolution on your screen (this can be done from the Settings tab of display properties).
