You are experiecing with your CMOS battery so:
try taking the CMOS battery out
leaving for 30 seconds
make sure it's all unplugged from the wall
do that first
then press the power button after the 30 seconds
to drain all power
then put battery back in
and plug in and turn on

I am having same problem. I replaced the CMOS battery. Replaced with brand new battery Energizer lithium Ion CR2032. Took me 2 hours to do the whole thing, because I didn't break any tabs or anything. I can get a job at dell for position "battery replacement technician". I made sure timer service is running and time is synced in time settings. Afer a month, same problem.

i wouls recommend getting the latest bios from dell for this laptop: copy and paste this info to the address bar in your browser->
If that does not work look to see if the service tag is still under warranty with dell and have them replace the motherboard for free. If you are out of warranty, and the bios update did not work- then the cmos battery is bad on the motherboard, or there is something really wrong with the internal clock on the motherboard. There is a program out there called atom time which automatically checks the time daily and updates it for you.I think it's still available as freeware too. This might be the only way to fix this if you are out of warranty and nothing else works- good luck!

This is one of the known issues with the Inspiron 1525 computer. The problem is caused by faulty cmos battery. If you computer is in warranty kinldy call Dell to get the same replaced . if the system is out of warranty. You would need to replace the CMOS battery ie below the keyboard.
You can follow the instructions below

you will have to replace the CMOS battery and it is not a customer replaceable part you will need a ted=ch to do it as there are no tear down diagrams to illustrate the procedure.
