  1. Open Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in for Services.
    • In Windows Vista or Windows 7, click Start Collapse this imageExpand this image Volume Up/Down keys not working... - vistastartbutton.jpg, type services.msc in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

SOLUTION!!
1. Do to Dell.com, click on SUPPORT, Enter your Service Tag, Search for system updates. I found out that my BIOS was not up to date.
2. Install updates.
3. If the problem still persists, try un-plugging the keyboard from your device and plug it back in. These steps worked for me. Hope it helps someone else out as well. Good Luck.

Normal 0 Are you using Windows Vista? If you are then go to Control Panel.
1. Click on Keyboard.
2. When the Keyboard Properties come up, CLICK on KEY SETTINGS.
3. Then set up the keys by selecting the Volume +/mute key, which is the bottom one, and click on it.
It will give you another window. Make sure you have a check in the block that says "Displays Volume and Mute Status on screen” Hope that will help some. Bud

If you want to check if the software is installed correctly and the keyboard is working fine try using the multimedia key. If you are able to use the multimedia keys for reducing and increasing the volume or mute the sound that means it is working fine.

If you are trying to configure the Favorite keys then you will have to select the buttons from the software and link it to the particular program of your choice.

Open the software application

Select the button that you want to configure

Click on the browse button to select the program of your choice to open with that button.

Volume up and down keys wont work

It sounds like one or more of the files may have been corrupted somehow. Updating the drivers should have fixed it but if they don't replace the file that is corrupted, you get your problem.

Go into control panel and first check under add/remove software and uninstall the keyboard control software. That will clean out any corrupted files. Then reinstall the drivers and set it up your keys again.

Everything ok with this keyboard except one thing. I can't manage the volume with the keyboard.

Are you trying the volume control at the media controls? See here.

Also check to see that your Operating system volume control is on and up.

good luck.

Microsoft Curve 3000 Keyboard battery Low with new batteries

Your response to the clarification request was placed correctly.
Your keyboard must have a button on the bottom to sync with the USB transmitter. Press the button on the transmitter first and then the button on the keyboard. This will re-sync the devices in a new radio channel. Give it a try, it might just be a communincatin problem between the two.

The intellipoint software and drivers are not really needed for the the keyboard to work, even if it has special keys for functions like volume and such. As soon as your batteries start to run out you will be able to tell by the keyboard not responding properly to key-presses.

On 32-bit machines: Use the windows search feature to find "hidserv.dll." Once located, copy the file and paste it into the %systemroot%\system32\ directory. Open the "Run" dialog box by keying the windows + R. Type "services.msc" and hit enter. Locate the HID Input Service. Right click and click "start." This should solve the issue!!

Wireless Multimedia keyboard volume keys won't work.

Go to start and run then type services.msc or if using windows 7 just go to start and type services.msc in the search box. Once open find the service "Human Interface Device Access". Change it from manual to automatic and make sure that it is started.
