Question about Canon CD-4050 Path-Through Scanner

1 Answer

Disk to Disk Copy Returns Corrupt Data.

We have a Canon cd4050 and we have approximately 100 Disks that have identical Cabinet/Folder Structures. Each Disk has been created from a single template and loaded with a specific client?s information. In other words, each of our 100 clients gets their own disk that we archive their information on. When I try to Copy a Disk and do a Disk to Disk Copy the information on the Clone Disk doesn?t match the Master Disk. In fact the Cloned Disk will include some of the Master disk files and some files from the Disks of other clients. This has happened with every disk I?ve tried to copy (which equals to approximately 10 disks). I?ve had a Tech Support person, from the company we purchased the unit, look at it and he states that there is a glitch in the system and there is nothing they can do about it. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem and if there is a way to fix it?

I have a CanoScan 8600F. When I want to scan I get the not enough space on the target disk

This seems to happen quite often with the Canon scanners. If you know you have enough space on your hard drive, open the CanoScan Toolbox, then click on Settings and change the folder where the temporary files are stored to another folder of your choice, or create a new one in your documents.

Connot make a pdf scan. get a reply thet there not enough space. installed latest drivers. working with xp

Issue: ERROR: Insufficient space on target disk
Solution: Change where temporary files are saved (Toolbox)

Change where temporary files are saved (Toolbox) For an unknown reason, the computer is not allowing temporary data to be written to the general folder chosen by Toolbox at the time of install.
  1. From the CanoScan Toolbox, click the Settings button.
  2. At the bottom you will see a section that states, "Select Folder Where Temporary Files are Saved:".
    Click the Browse button.
  3. Browse to a folder, such as C:\Temp, and then click OK.
  4. Click OK again to exit the Settings window.
  5. Try scanning again.

Lost setup disk 4 my Canoscan LiDE 100

This is Canon Support, and the support page for the CanoScan LiDE 100,

On this page you'll see the file downloads, for the User On-Screen Manual. Both for Windows or MAC.
There is also a Quick Start Guide, that is in PDF file format that you can download.

At the top you'll see the heading -> Drivers/ Software Selection.
Under that it states, "Please select your Operating System to view available drivers and software"
You just click on the blue down arrow to the right of the box, then left-click right on the Operating System you're using.

Not knowing what Operating System you're using, I chose Windows XP as an example:
After you click on your Operating System, the drivers immediately appear, (At least they did with Win XP)

Under the Drivers heading, and the sub-heading, File Name and Description,
it lists -> LiDE Scanner Driver Ver 14.0.1 (Windows Vista/Vista 64/XP/2000), then has -> smwin131en.exe <- in Red.
This is what you click on.
You'll be taken to another page, where you click on -> I agree

From there you should get a small pop-up window. It may be a 'Squawk Box' from Microsoft. "Warning this software, ya-da, ya-da"
It's okay. Click on Run. Then click on Run again.
This is if it's going to be used on the computer you're using to operate the scanner on.

If not, click on Save.
If you don't have your downloads saved to go to your My Documents folder, it will go to your desktop screen. Remember, or write down the file name, so that you can find it later, then click on Save.

Burn this file to CD disk. After you install it into the computer you want, you may have to go to My Computer, (Start>My Computer),
and double-click on your CD/DVD drive letter,(Example: (D:)

An error message when i try to scan

On the CanoScan Toolbox program bar, select settings. Then hit the Browse button next to "Select Folder where Temporary Files are Saved" and go up one level to Canon from TB50. Then hit OK. This fixed the problem for me after Microsoft Updateinstalled updated Canon drivers. It looks like the geniuses at Canon are either having you write to a write-protect folder or one that only has system permissions and then giving you a disk-full error.

How locate and transfer job registration tool data for new installation

There are 2 methods:

1) On the existing PC, start the Job registration tool, click the "Administrators" button (on the bottom of the dialog), then click the "Backup" button in the dialog that appears. This will save a registry file that you can then transfer to the new PC.

2) Use regedit to browse to the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Canon Electronics Inc.\DR-1210C-JobTool
branch. Save this branch to a file, then transfer it to the new PC.
