Question about Washing Machines

3 Answers

My A710 Laundry Washing Machine leaks water during the cycle. I think it is during the spin cycle. Also how do you get at it. I assme that the top lid raises up but how. Is there a release for the top or is it because it hasn't been open since it was new?

A washer that leaks only during the spin cycle often has a leak in the main drain hose. Inspect the entire hose and correct any problem you find. Alternatively, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. This may be most visible during large loads and high water levels. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub--but that may not be an economical repair to make.

Good luck...

Leaking water usually comes from hoses or connections. Be sure that water appearing to be a leak isn’t drain water from a backed-up standpipe.

Check the fittings where the hoses connect to the faucets and to the back of the washing machine. Also look for worn or leaky hoses. Tighten couplings or hose clamps.

The machine may also have a faulty basket gasket or tub seal and bearing that may need to be replaced

Leaking water usually comes from hoses or connections. Be sure that water appearing to be a leak isn’t drain water from a backed-up standpipe. Note: To prevent serious flood damage, which can occur if washing machine supply hoses burst, be sure to install “no-burst” stainless-steel mesh hoses and lever-type shutoff valves, as show in the illustration. With these, you can easily turn off the levers for both hot and cold water between wash days.

1) Check the fittings where the hoses connect to the faucets and to the back of the washing machine. Also look for worn or leaky hoses. Tighten couplings or hose clamps if necessary, or replace hoses altogether (be sure to turn the water off before removing hoses, and drain them into a bucket after disconnecting them).

My A710 Laundry Washing Machine - washer_er.gif2) Determine whether the machine is oversudsing during wash loads, which can cause the machine to overflow. Reduce suds by pouring 1/2 cup of white vinegar in 1 quart water into the washer. Then switch to less detergent or a low-sudsing variety.

3) The machine may have a faulty basket gasket or tub seal and bearing that must be replaced; in this case, call an appliance repairperson

Water leaking on fast spin

hi Eamon.
this is what i found from the internet.
Washing machine leaks on spin Last updated on February 6th, 2017
Sometimes a washing machine leaks on spin, but not before. If this is the case, either it's going into spin with too much water inside, or something may only be leaking under the pressure and tub movement caused by spinning.
If you can see water running out of the soap drawer during spin it's probably gone into spin without pumping the water away properly. If it wasn't pumping water out at all it would not go into spin, but a partial obstruction can reduce the flow enough to allow a spin with the water unable to escape fast enough. This causes water to be forced up into the drawer or out of the steam vent at the back. If you suspect this check the last section of this article - Washer leaks from drawer
If water is coming from underneath when it spins then it's more likely to be caused by something leaking only under pressure. Check the door seal all around inside for slits and small holes, especially higher up, which may only open up and let water out when the washer is bouncing around on spin.
Other possible causes are hoses inside the machine which have small holes which open up during spin or which leak where they connect to the tub under spin conditions. These type of leaks often leave tell-tale rust or dry detergent marks. After that there could be a crack or small hole high up in the plastic outer tub which only gets exposed to water when it's forced around the tub during spin.
You are looking for something that is moving and allowing water out when the tub bounces around under load, or something high letting water out when it gets thrashed around the top half of the machine on spin. If you can't see anything obvious get a washing machine engineer

Instructions
things you'll need:

* Laundry detergent
* Clean cloths
* Measuring tape
* Plywood (if necessary)
* Wrench (if necessary)
1.Verify that the Kenmore top-loading washing machine is completely plugged into a grounded, three-prong power outlet. Reset the fuse or circuit breaker, if necessary; do not plug the washing machine into an extension cord.
2.Make adjustments to the feet on the washing machine if it is shaking or vibrating. The front and rear feet must all be touching the floor evenly. If the floor under the machine is flimsy and cannot adequately support the washer, set a 3/4-inch piece of plywood under the machine for better stability. Load the tub evenly when placing items inside the washing machine and do not overload the tub.
3.Examine the washing machine drum, including between the inner and outer basket, if the machine is clicking or rattling during use. Remove loose objects from inside the drum. If objects are caught between the drums, unplug the washing machine and pull the items out with a pair of pliers, if possible.]
4.the fill hoses behind the washing machine if there are water leaks and ensure the drain hose is connected to a laundry tub or drainpipe. Look at the plumbing throughout the home for drainage problems and correct as necessary.
5.Turn on the water valves behind the washing machine and clean the water inlet hose screens if the water is not running or filling. Do not overload the tub, and use only high-efficiency (marked HE) laundry detergent in high-efficiency Kenmore washers. Note that energy-efficient washing machines often use less water than other machines; this is normal.
6.Choose a wash cycle with a higher spin speed if the water is not draining as expected or items are extremely wet when washing is complete. Reduce overall load size and select a new drain/spin cycle to remove the extra water from the washer. Ensure the drain hose is properly installed on a drainpipe or tub and is not set more than 96 inches above the floor.
7.Reduce the number or volume of items inside the washer tub if the clothes are not rinsed when the cycle is complete. Verify that the water valves are turned on and the correct type and amount of laundry detergent is used.

Hello I have a Maytag Washer Model A512 The machine goes through a regular cycle OK - However, it DOES drains the water out during the rinse cycle, but does NOT drain the water out during the spin...

The timer will always advance to the next program if the machine does not fully drain. There is ALWAYS a spin when draining the water out, there is only one pump and one motor. The waterlogged laundry maybe telling the timer that there is still water in the tub. Put the machine on "Spin" and cheat the lid switch into thinking that the lid is closed. Use a clothes peg or wide ended screwdriver and see if there really is a spin....

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care II, top loading washer. Upon intial start up the machine agitates. During the spin cycle, the cold water remains ON, throughout the cycle. This is leaving the clothes wet...

The timer is at fault.
During the spin cycle the timer should send intermittent power to the water valve. This activates cold to help rinse soap residue from the laundry.
If cold is continuous it means the timer is not breaking correctly.

Leaking water

Does not sound like a bearing problem. Check to see if water is overflowing the top of the tub during spin cycle (due to spin action) and running down the side of the tub.  Water rising up the side of the tub during spin cycle could also be squirting up through bleach dispenser opening and running down side of tub.

Leak from maytag top load coin machine during spin drain cycle only

Possible that you would have a tub seal leak if it is only noticable during spin cycle. Possible that it "drips" slightly while in agitation, but not enough to notice it. While in spin mode you have a lot more parts moving as well as a lot more water pressure on the seal itself. Pump could also be leaking, but highly doubtful since it would leak a constant amount at all times. Good Luck!!! Jim
