Question about GE JKP45 Electric Double Oven

7 Answers

JKP45 lower oven does not work.

I heard that using a manual reset could resolve the problem.
Where is the lower oven reset switch located exactly?I KNOW there is a reset button; because that's how it got fixed before. Really simple, but I can't remember how to find it!! Anyone know?

I had a similar problem. Solved mine by resetting the manual reset thermal switch. The switch for the top oven is located behind the control panal which can be removed easily by taking out three screws then lifting up an leaning out. The switch has a red reset button, just push it in till it clicks.

For safety, SWITCH THE BREAKER OFF WHILE YOU DO THIS!!!

The lower oven switch is located behind the vent grill between the two ovens.

GE should be ashamed of hiding this feature-it isn't mentioned in the manual. I discovered it on a schematic hidden behind the control panal.

Try to reset the breaker by turning it off, then back on again.

OR try this

    1. Press the Clean pad.
    2. Close the door.
    3. Slide the latch to lock the door.
    4. Hit the cancel button immediately.
    5. Unlock the door.
  • Good luck...

Try holding the door light switch in while the door is open, put the range into clean while you hold the light switch in. The lock arm should move into the lock position, you have to keep holding the door light switch in through this whole process. After the door locks, still holding the light switch in, cancel clean and the door should unlock. After the door lock motor has quit running, you can release the door light switch and the oven should be reset.

the bimetals you checked, did you remove them from the circuit before checking? if all of the thermals, not going to a fan are closed, then you have either a control problem or an element. after self cleaning usually the HIGH LIMIT thermal opens, and is a simple replacement. but if all are good then you need to look deeper. there should be an tech sheet in the control top or control panel area that can help you trouble shoot.

Unable to get cooker out of automatic mode

If your oven has timer and it is flashing AUTO then you need to reset it to manual for it to work.
If no timer then it could be a faulty door micro switch, located at the front left side..\Hope this helps, please leave feed back.
Thanks

GE JKP45 double wall oven shuts off

This sounds like a loose connection (solder joint) on the main control board. I had one that had a similar problem. checked the price of a control board $350. I took the control panel off, took the board apart and found a loose connection on one of the relays. resoldered the bad connection. oven works fine now.

After Self-Cleaning the lower oven wont heat up!

There is an overheat sensor that may have failed to the open position. It is a little round button thing a little larger in diameter than a dime with two wires. Check to see if it is in the open position
