A UK Xbox will work on a uk TV, which uses the PAL colour system. Canada use NTSC so the image is black and white. Can the Xbox be configured for NTSC ?

I cannot play most of the games due to region code....I have an Xbox 360 pal as well as Xbox 360 ntsc console....the latter has burnt up but its DVD ROM is alright....if i change the DVD ROM of pal to ntsc...

Interesting question.

Yes you can do that but you don't need to replace the DVD Rom.
You need 2 tools: PAL-to-NTSC converter box and a voltage converter. Don't know where to buy these though. Sorry.

If you manage to get those tools then you need to refer to a guide. Here's a detailed one from e How:

Hope you get it working.

I have an xbox 360 from the US and am now living in Ireland. Is there a plug that I can order to get power here and are the games purchased in Ireland compatable with the US console?

Games bought in Ireland are not compatible with your US console. So rather than buying a converter plug, you're better off buying a new Xbox 360 console. (Of course if you have brought games with you from the US these will ONLY work on your US console, meaning you need a plug. You should be able to find a converter in an electronics store.)
But do not forget that certain games are region free (meaning any console can play it, regardless of where the console was bought.
Just to warn you so you don't buy the same game for both your consoles, when you may not need to.
You can find a list of compatible games vs consoles here:
Region Free Xbox 360 Games

NTSC-U/C - US + Canada

NTSC/U - USA

PAL - Europe

NTSC/J - Japan

Hope this helps. =]

If you are getting nothing when you try to turn it on, no lights or anything...then check your power converter to see if it is supplying proper voltage. This can easily be done with a multimeter.

If the power converter is ok, I would call xbox and see about getting warranty work done.

If you are getting red lights where it shows what controllers are hooked up (they are green when working correctly), then you will most likely need warranty work.

If you xbox turns on but you are getting no picture to your tv, I would check it on a different TV to see if possibly the input ports on TV are fried.

Also check to make sure that all connections like power cord, RCA cables are hooked up correctly and firmly in their socket.

Hope this helps.

Not enough electric to power xbox 360

Hi

Oh dear sorry to hear that, What a mare! you will need a piece of equipment called an 'Inverter', this will convert the 110v (usual voltage in these countries) to 240v and you should have hours of fun :)

I hope this helps

Let me know

Can i use an Xbox 360 bought in USA in India - given the voltage conversion required? would there be any seperate adaptor available for 220 volt usage in India

You can purchase a volt adapter (rather common in travel stores/airports) but over time the device's power-supply will wear out because of the frequency difference.

North America runs at 60hz
India runs at 50hz

Xbox 360 issues

Hi Demirtas,
I'll try and help you out...
1.  You could try the paper clip method but I wouldn't recommend it, if you are able to take your console to a near by games store they may open it for you using one of their power bricks...
2.  You'd have to run the correct voltage through the console or you could cause irreversible damage to the unit, you don't want to fry the motherboard!  You could pick up a pre-owned brick or use a voltage converter...
3. Yes you can use any power brick as long as the voltage is correct..
I hope this helps a bit, sorry if not.  Please rate!
Thank you!

Can you use a xbox 360 european power brick (220v) on a USA xbox 360 in europe

If you do you will damage the internal components and it will break. Do not try it.

110 volt usa xbox 360 to work in a 220volt country

Hi,

The first possibility is that it was simply a faulty transformer, however the more lilkey problem is the transformer was not of a sufficient power to run the Xbox 360, you need to make sure that you buy a transformer that can supply at least 300w of power as this is what the xbox 360 requires, some cheaper models may have difficulty with this.

Further information about step down convertors can be read here

Thanks,
Geoff

Power brick red light

yeah you definitly need to have a uk to usa power converter. you guys run on 220V which would create way more current then needed which is why the power supply blew. I hope you didnt fry any internal parts in the 360. You need to get a power converter that gives you 120V.

XBOX 360 Power Adapter

What happened when you switched on the console? I think the 360 is supposed to run from 240v (at least that's what it says on the power brick) 220v may not be enough to power the console. You may have damaged the console but I'm unsure as I've never run into this situation before. You could try another power brick making sure you use the correct voltage. I'm sorry if this isn't much help but please rate if at all useful, thanks!
