Question about Jenn-Air 24 in. JDB8910 Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

My Jenn-Air stainless steel dishwasher shows an error of L3.

It was running fine then last night when I went to set the controls, which is inside the door, the L & symbol had a 3 flashing inside of it & I cannot get the dishwasher to work.

SOURCE: Jenn-Air Dishwasher Handle Loose

This worked perfectly for me. Follow the link that shows you which two screws to take out. It is one screw on each side of the inside door frame. One on the left and one on the right (not the top one, but the second one down). Then pull the door handle upward about 2 inches and the whole washer face comes up. Jiggle it off and tighten the handle. Only tricky thing is that you need a star screwdriver.

The problem I had in the beginning was that I took off the middle screws on top (cause that's what it looks like in the picture), but it's actually the side screws. Don't take them all off - just the two you need.

SOURCE: Our jenn-Air built in dishwasher smells foul and

We had similar type of problem (as well as residual water always left in bottom) and after pulling out the dishwasher, found that the drainage tube was incorrectly installed by contractor. It was laying on the floor behind it with a only a slight rise to the garbage disposal inlet. I suspect this contributed to sewer odors as well a water back flowing into the dishwasher. I disconnected drainage tube so that it went up 24+" and then connected to garbage disposal (creates a loop that blocks sewer odors and back flow conditions). I also cleared out the filter at bottom of inside the dishwasher. The Use & Care Guide suggested using baking soda in China/Crystal mode for 10 minutes, opening the front door and letting it sit overnight. I repeated that for 3 nights and it did clear up the remaining odor. Don't know if this will help your issue or not. Good luck!

The door is getting rusty. I believed that stainless steal didn't rust. Is there a way I can remove the spots?

Normally these appliances use brushed steel which gives a stainless steel look.

Get a magnet and run it on the sheet. If it sticks then it definitely is not stainless steel.
However, with wear and tear stainless steel surface does break down causing rust to start.

To remove rust go to this site.

My dishwasher will not start. I can chose my settings close the door and press start but it will not start.

You have a bad control panel. Here is your part#99003139
  1. Unplug your dishwasher
  2. Unscrew the the screws that run along side the inner door *don't let door drop*
  3. Unplug the ribbon cable and replace the control panel
This would only take 20min to change. Have a great day!

DOES JENN AIR HAVE A REST BUTTON, MY DISHWASHER WONT START. MODEL NUMBER JDB4000AWS

first of all if its a built in dishwasher under counter by the sink, check for a switch as you may have inadvertentally switched this switch off or unknowingly bumped it with something under the sink, then if it has power to the unit, there is a built in fuse on the control board

Stainless steel is rusty/blotchy

Jenn Air makes great products, don't blame them. Your type of stainless steel is a consumer grade that has less nickel-chromium in the mix making it affordable to the consumer. The surface needs to be "pacified", DeBruce Polish will REMOVE THE RUST and PACIFY the surface. We get Debruce Polish at debrucepolish.com.
