My wifes Acer monitor suddenly went black
When you turn on the monitor, and if you see the power light blink i really doubt that the monitor is at fault. If it failed at all, it would likely fail completely.
Sorry to be bearer of bad news, However, there is no shortcut to reset the monitor. If you open the monitor you would find nothing than a circuit board with long string of capacitors and diodes.
However, before we jump to the conclusion that, monitor is at fault. There might be 2 more reasons.I have seen in the past that sometimes, motherboard fails while you are working on PC and sometimes Window Crash.
Lets work bacwards.
Restart PC. Press f8. If you did'nt get any screen, more likely either motherboard is corrupted or monitor is at fault.
If you do see screen, might be settings, any other colour, Load Windows again as your windows might have crashed.
Motherboard - I have seen many people throwing their monitors thinking that it's their monitor who is at fault. However, in the end its motherboard.
Try to attach your monitor with some other CPU.If that works, motherboard is corrupted. You need to repair or replace that.
If you honestly ask me its much better to purchase new monitor. If you want to repair that, it might cost you some bucks And once repaired, the issue would always be there ( Though not for some time ).
If you still want to fix that, tell me the model number, so that we can work together to fix that.
Thanks for using Fixya.
