The Fl231 PROBLEM

I just read your post about this problem, this is !00% the problem i'm having....except with a twist....this was a problem i was having, then all of a sudden is stopped powering the screen on all together...does is still sound like the same kind of issue? Before the screen turned off....it was word for word the same problem, i could have sworn you were describing my TV, but now the screen doesnt turn on, and only the light on the power button flashes for a minute, then everything shuts off.

I dont want to replace parts without know for sure, any help would be appreciated, trying to get it working by new years...we have family coming over, and my backup 23in tv just isnt cutting it, lol.

Thanks, i know the ribbon cable your talking about, i'll double check it...as well as all the other connections when i get home tonight.

There are no sounds, no chirps no nothing, it simply doesnt power the screen and about 5 seconds, it completely powers off, it i leave it unplugged for a little bit, then plug it it, and power it on, it will turn the light on the power button on...then shutoff again.

But the first time it shut off, i just had the convergance problem and i was looking through menus and it acted like someone had just pulled the power....no noises or anything

Ok originally you had a convergence problem? now you have a shutdown condition. my first instinct is check ribbon connectors. also to reset the processor leave it off for 30 min. do you hear any sounds chirps, static. This is a shutdown condition. the processor is getting power and is detecting a fault... It can be one of about 20 conditions. it might be the flyback and the horizontal output transistor. there is a flat cable that runs from the green cuicit board to the front center crt board. if that is loose it might shutdown. In the shop we have a computer that reads errors codes much like a automobile. but like i said since it came on before eaither a connector has come loose or something got shorted

Right to the right side of the flyback. You will see three small brown rectangle ( fuses) FL221, FL231 and FL251 the center fuse is the FL231 which is the fuse for convergence. I am posting a pic of where its located.slinteriors_14.jpg

Sounds like the fl231. First question? In the setup menu do you have convergence option? if not this is an indication of the special fuse called fl231

Fl231 fuse compatibility

yes, thats the replacement fuse for your set. However unless you have replaced the convergence power supply also chances are the fuse will blow again, as the power supply shorting is what causes the convergence to get out of alignment and it will then blow FL231 thereby removing the convergence option from the menu.
