When this screen is seen with XP, the system must start up by pressing 'Enter' key. If it doesn't, the O/S might be currupted due to improper shut down. If it is the case, you have to load XP again, by inserting the system disc. Here it seems that, the system tries to boot, but fails. A clear indication of currupted O/S.
mines does the same but wen u here it start up an the screen goes blank take the battery out then it will say start windows normaly or safe and safe made networking click on safe mode networking and u can use your laptop again but with no sound hope this helped
If the screen shows a picture but very faintly, the inverter is either not connected properly or faulty.
If there's nothing on the screen at all
1) Your screen is either not connected properly or faulty.
or 2) *********** board has a fault.
or 3) Your graphics card/chip has a fault.
You can connect your laptop to another screen using the VGA port on the back. You have to switch to the spare screen using the keyboard, usually Fn and another key. If the spare screen then shows a picture, *********** board and graphics card are OK, your screen is at fault or not connected properly.
Checking the connections to both the inverter and screen will require dismantling you laptop. If you go about this, ensure all power, including the battery is disconnected.
Likely the tactile switch which is under the button is worn out because of the repeated pressure. Do the charging lights or any lights light up? If it is the switch "which is essentially another smaller button under the power button" then the best advice is to get a new/used power board strip which has the power button on it and often others as well.
