The laptop starts up with a pink hue

Good morning,
The laptop starts up with a pink hue. Pretty much all of the Bios typing that would be white, starts pink. But I have noticed on a couple occasions that the pink goes away in a couple minutes.

What could be happening, I use a DELL Latitude D600

Thanks in advance..

Make sure the LCD is completely attached to the system board. I've had them come partially out and cause this. If this doesn't help, your LCD and/or inverter could be going bad.

I have a Dell 5100 CN Laser Printer and it just started to malfunction. I replaced all 4 toner cartridges thinking that the pink hue on each printed page was due to a faulty ink cartridge. I replaced ALL...

If this printer features drum units that are not included with the toner then I would suggest that this is a more likley cause of the problem than the toner. Take a look at the drum, if the magenta is separate you may notice that it has toner on it. If it does it is likley defective as it should be clean when removed from the printer.

Monitor Problems

A pink or red tint indicated that florescent back light bulbs that light up the monitor are going out. When they start to die they out out red or pink light instead of white light like they should. They bulbs are replaceable but not easy for someone not familiar with this type of repair. Parts would run about $30 plus shipping and are available online but it may not be worth the repair on the monitor due to age.

Moniter background is pink instead of white.

Hello gladyshbrown,
If the background is the only thing that is pink, then this will be as simple as changing your background color. the process is different depending on the operating system you are using, but if you right click on an empty space in your desktop chose either properties, or personalize. then choosing desktop.
If however this is not just affecting your background, meaning everything has a pink hue to it then it is most likely a hardware problem. To test this you can change to a different monitor, if the pink hue is gone then it is most definitely the monitor. However if the problem is the same on both monitors, then that would mean that your graphics card has gone bad. Many Pc's bought from dell, or hp have both video cards, and on board video. If this is the case with your Pc, you can move the monitor cable from where it is connected now, to the identical connection on the back of the computer. If you do switch to an on board video, please turn off your computer before plugging it in. This way when your computer is turned back on it will recognize that you are using a different video source. Most computers will do this automatically, however if it does not you will need to go into the "bios(cmos)" and enable onboard video. The option for bios is given as the computer first starts up. The key varies but it will be one of the following f1,f2,f10, or delete.
Good luck!

Right now, my laptop screen is black. I can hit Fn

I'd guess that it's the CCFL (backlight bulb) going bad. What points me in this direction is that you mention that the backlight (when you're able to get it to turn on) isn't producing bright white light (and pink is one of the colors that normal fluorescent tubes produce when they're failing). You're in luck because CCFL backlighting isn't the most difficult thing in the world to replace (if you can handle delicate electronics) and you may just be able to hack together some LED backlighting for yourself while you're at it. There are a few reasons that LED backlighting is better than CCFL but the most important is that LEDs last pretty much forever.

There are a number of video tutorials on YouTube about replacing the backlight of an LCD display and a few of them detail the installation of bright-white LEDs in place of CCFL backlights. If soldering and math aren't your strong suits a drop-in replacement for the CCFL tubes should be fairly easy to find online...

White has turned pinkish

sounds like the linear adjustment is out of whack.....most projection type tvs, projection, lcd, plasma, have to be correctly aligned so that the color grids overlap each other to properly display the correct hue being created. you'd need the service code to re-adjust it, or have it serviced. also possible that one of the color grids is bad, but if you have all three (red, blue, green) colors showing on the entire screen area i would doubt it
