GeForce 6600 AGP 8x 256 MB in Asrock 7s41gx

I recently tried to install a new Geforce 6600 AGP 8x 256 MB in my PC, wich have these specifications:

AMD Athlon 2400+
Asrock 7s41gx
1.25 GB RAM new
HD 160 GB new
Power Suplly: 450w Euro
Windows XP SP2 clean install

Al running good before installing the new video card.

When installed, my card works only for 1 hour and hang up my PC, in the videogames it does in 2 min playing.
I tried all possible configuration:
AGP Aperture: 64-128-256 mb
AGP fast write: activate/deactivate
Install new drivers for motherboard and video card
Free all PCI slots
Deactivate DVD & floppy disk power supply

and nothing..I went to the seller and they replaced the card for a new one, but it doesn't run, just the monitor stay turned off.
I went again to the seller with my PC and they replaced my Power supply for another of 600w to make the tests. The card runs but still hang up my PC.

I have Nvidia GeForce FX 5500 / 256MB DDR / AGP 8x / DVI / VGA /

try downloading " Driver Magician ". This searches for and updates all drivers on your system. There is a small fee for registration but this has been a God-send for me.

Connect your monitor card into your origional monitor port. Boot to BIOS and disable the VGA port. Save and exit. After re-start, shut down and install the new AGP.

Nvida geforce fx5500 256 agp compatible with intel d865gbf ?

Yes, they should be compatible. The Intel d865gbf has an AGP port that supports AGP 4x/8x, and so does the FX5500. You should be fine.

Installing GeForce 5200 on Dell Dimension 2400

I suggest that better check that graphic card in another machine and make sure it is working.

Also find out the data transfer speed of your mother board through the AGP slot is compatible with your graphic card. (e.g. 4X, 8X, etc.)

If you are sure that your system really has an 8X AGP port (A choclate colored slot) then you could deffinitely install the card and work with it.

With the information I received the Dell Dimension 2400 deos not features an AGP 8X port, in that case it is not possible to install the card.

Then you should buy a new motherboard with AGP 8X Port to be able to install the Ge force FX 5200.
