Can't get pictures off my camera. It says I have to format the disk before use. I have no card reader, so how can I remove them?

If you can connect an USB cable to your camers and then plug the cable into the USB port of your computer, it may see the camera and menory card as an external storage device and you maybe able to open the folsers on the memory card to download the photos.
If this does not work the you need an USB reader, (they are not expensive).
When you use an USB memory card reader and still have difficulty in retrieving your photos then -

SADLY A RELATIVE DIED DURING THE YEAR AND HIS WIFE GAVE ME HIS DIGITAL CAMERA. THE CAMERA IS A "MEGXON S306". PURCHASED LATE 2007, AND IS IN 'AS NEW' CONDITION. NO BATTERIES, NO USB CABLE TO HOOK UP TO MY...

Hello,

So sorry to hear about your relative.

Megxon is not a standard camera brand. It is apparently made by the same company that makes the Praktika Luxmedia cameras. Take a look at the Praktika Luxmedia camera line and see if you can find one that is the same as, or substantially similar to, the Megxon camera you have.

Have you tried to see if standard USB camera cables will work on this camera? There are several "standard" USB plugs often used on digital cameras. See this article on USB at Wikipedia. Take a look at the Micro and Mini plug illustrations and see if you can identify the plug on the camera. If you can identify it as a standard USB plug, then you should be able to purchase a USB cable with the correct end to fit into the camera.

Good luck!

Where is port to connect USB cable?

I'm sorry you're having trouble with this. I have put together a picture that shows where the mini-USB plug is supposed to be attached to the camera. I hope it helps. This picture actually shows plugging the AV cable into the receptical, but right behind it is the mini-USB port. This is where you connect the USB cable. It looks like you have to lift the flap on the corner to reveal the plugs.

I bought a samsung digimax 301 from a friend

no you wont be able to do that without software, you should have got a cdrom with the camera along with the usb lead. Install the software and follow the instructions, you will then be able to transfer pictures to your pc.
