You need to run again the XP installation CD and better if you format and partition the hard drive when you do that....

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, a new harddrive would work but it is not necessary. A few ides to consider:

  • did you re-partition the hard drive before formatting?
  • partition, reformat the harddrive using a 2nd PC using an HD to USB adapter;
  • remove the memory and clean the little gold pins using a hard pencil eraser;
  • set the CMOS/BIOS to default all.
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy New Year.

Hello and welcome to FixYa!,

You will need to re-install Windows XP again because it is a corrupted file in Windows causing this. I this does not solve it, a new HDD is the way to go!

Hope it solves your problems -P3NGYJ03

You have removed any system file or driver from your PC or your system have many of viruses. Start windows in safe mode by clicking F10 while booting. Transfer your files from C drive to other drives or in removable drive. Get windows recovery disk and repair your windows xp. This also formates your C drive. Next time, load a licenced antivirus and do not make any changes in C drive.

Yahoo messenger takes awhile to load up when I turn my pc on

1. Click on start if in Windows XP or the window Globe in the left hand bottom corner in Vista.

2. In Windows XP Click on Run or Vista click on the empty white box

3. Type msconfig

4. Disable all start-up programs. Dont uncheck your anti virus and other programs like yahoo which you want at start up.

5. Hit 'OK' and restart.

This process will clearly speed up your system

Won't boot - brief blue screen

Press F8 while booting but before it goes into SAFE mode select "Temporarily disable restart." Now you should be able to read the Blue Screen. If this doesn't work it's likely you have the GenericFX virus and you'll need to repair the operating system.

Sounds like you have a problem with your power adapter, battery and or charge port ... I would suggest you let the unit "charge" overnight and try again.

Dave,
At this point the virus, and it was a virus no doubt, has done irreparable damage to the operating system, and possible the hard drive. You will need an operating system disc, no way around that. Once you have the disc, then you will need to reformat the hard drive using the full NTFS format, not the quick format, to ensure total deletion of the virus, and install a new operating system. If the hard drive won't format or if you have any issues during or after the install, then the hard drive has or is failing and will need replaced. If you need any futher asststance with this just ask.
