Re: Help

Measure HT voltage for video drivers(i.e +185v). It will be less than normal, because of the filter capacitor faulty,Normally the value will be 22mfd/250v.Otherwise you can try any Mfd of 250v. Try and reply.

Negative image is due to the absence of Luminance signal in picture. You are now seeing only the chrominace part of it. It will be surely due to the Chroma Luminance Juncle Ic fault. You just open your TV, find the chroma luminance jungle Ic, resolder it out from the board, go for a same type and number. Replacing it wil resolve your problem. You must have good concept of soldering and desoldering, as this is a quiet complex job, which may need as far as 68 soldering points, very close to each other, and have the chance to get shorted between. Ok

It sounds like you are missing the luminance drive to the CRT board or the voltage that is provided to amplify the signal. The reason you get a good on screen display is that it is it is fed from aseperate circuit and you get some images because the chrominance signal is still being supplied. The video signal is made up of these two component- luminance and chroma. You usually need an oscilliscope to troubleshoot.

No Picture. But on the screen it shows the channel number and the menu. I have a ps2 and dvd/vcr sound works fine.

We know that high voltage and raster are okay. Suspected defective circuits are somewhere in the video drive chain or power supply system, so
the problem is definitely not a quick fix. Although the problem could be bad connections and weak filters which should be checked first.

After checking for quick fixes, you need to check video drive circuits which entails checking the video output wave form from the luminance processor. If video is not present check composite video coming into luminance processor. If input ok check voltages going to processor to determine if problem is power supply or processor. If input is not ok to luminance processor trace back to I/O port where the video switching processor is located. Check for input to input I/O processor. If good check I/O processor output, and if bad check voltages going to processor and switching data port to determine if processor, power supply, or systems control circuits are defective. If input to I/O processor is bad then trace signal back to where it is good and repair applicable circuit[s].

Hello HollyJ, If possible can you post a picture of the problem, It would help in determining if this is a convergence problem or a pincushion circuit problem. You description while good is a little to general to many possible issues. This sounds like a defection issue but I would not be able to tell unitl I see a picture of the screen, take the picture with a digital camera and the post it to the page using the add image link on the right side of the dialog box. Thank you, Shuttle83,
