Inconsistant Blank Streaks

I've got a problem with blank streaks down all of my scans, one time it will just be the middle, the next it will be most of the document, very inconsistant. I've clead glass, rollers, basically everything i can get into. is this a cleaning issue? or could it be something else?

Re: Inconsistant Blank Streaks

Couild still be cleaning. Look to see if there's a separate glass strip across the paper path (usually just upstream of the flatbed window). Dirt here is a common cause of streaks. If not that, then you might be looking at a problem on the scanner array, or in the connections going to it (much harder to get to the bottom of this - and I wouldn't have mentioned it but for the fact you say the streaks are inconsistent). When I scan two-sided to pdf, the back page has a large black vertical streak down left side.

If that is the last page that has the streak use a blank page in the original scan as the last page and then the dark line wont cover the image.

Blank streaks on color copies

You need a calibration most likely. You can try to clean the internals with the wands on the inside of the front cover.

I clean the glass but there are still black streaks

Try scanning the same document in two diff brightness levels (in B&W, say one at 75 and other at say 210. I am assuming you are using CapturePerfect. If the black streaks are same in both the images, then it could be scan module problem. If the streaks vary in size, then it is definitely dirt on the glass. use isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to clean the glass. DONT USE solvents. S. Mohan, Chennai, India

Vertical streaks in photo scans

That problem is caused by dust or debris on the scanning "eye" itself. If you are confident in your skills, you can (UNPLUG FIRST) disassemble the scanner and use a microfiber cloth to clear anything on the light bar that scans your documents off.

Hope this was a little helpful,

Vertical Light Streaks on text documents, both single and duplex

Clean the glass thoroughly using Isopropyl alcohol. Dont use solvents. Check if there is any scratch on the glass. Repeated scanning with stapler pins can scratch the glass. If it is scratched, you may need to chage it.
