My RM2852 has the same problem. It runs on propane and 13.8vDC. After it shuts itself off to save energy, it will try to fire itself up again: the igniter fires properly for about 8 seconds, and then the igniter ceases and the fault light comes on--- the burner does not light. When we recycle the start sequence two or three times, the burner stays on.

My assumption is that there is a temperature probe checking to see if the propane burner is lite.

Is there a trim-pot on the ignition circuit board that adjusts how long the igniter runs? If so, would increasing the time it fires allow the temperature probe to heat up?

We took the refrigerator to be services, but the service shop said there is no problem; however, we have this problem a dozen times a day at least. This problem has existed from the first day we got the refrigerator.

So, the solution was simple but not obvious: the heat probe and the igniter are one and the same item, and all we had to do was bend the probe/igniter closer to the burner. After we did that the refrigerator started to behave properly.

Oddly enough, the repair manual for the refrigerator shows a igniter with a heat probe above it: the is not how the refrigerator is built.

Sounds like your ignitor porcelain is cracked. Yes there is a miliamp signal sent to the circuit board to stop the ingnitor from arcing

Wiil not cool

If the heater is geting hot and not cooling sounds like it is in the defrost mode just defrosting or stuck in defrost mode.If it is in defrost mode it should stop defrosting after a while and start cooling. They defrost every so many hours depending on how they are set.

My dometic fridge will not turn on

Check to see if you have a switch for storage, on, off etc. usually between doors, or near top right corner of fridge compartment. It may be in wrong position.

Will not stay lit

The pilot sequence is designed to run for 45 seconds. It could be that the thermocouple is not triggering the cycle once the pilot is lit. I am having the same problem and intend to replace the thermocouple and then give it another go. The fridge works fine on electric but stopped working on gas last week.

Dometic rv fridge runs fine on elec, lights on gas but in one min shuts down. Dometic RV S1621 fridge runs fine with elec, when start gas operation. The burner runs for about 30 seconds then shuts off....

It is key that all control switches are in the correct position, depending on what power source you are using, gas, electric, etc. If the switches are not in the proper setting, the unit will not operate.

Here's the manual for your fridge that should be printed out for your use and reference (and reading enjoyment). It has all the info needed to operate and troubleshoot it.

Typically, when using any gas appliance with a pilot light, the sensor has to first be hot enough to trigger it to allow the safety gas shutoff to open and allow the gas to flow to the pilot/burner. Follow the instructions and you should be all set.

Hope you find this helpful and best regards!
