Dell 32" tv speakers making popping sound

It started when changing channels, there would be a short pause in sound then a loud pop, now it just makes a constant popping sound, i tried using different speakers and using the dvd player, and got the same result.

I have the same problem as well on my 32" dell.the right speaker went out about a year ago, and the left one went out days ago. the monitor works fine but is useless with out sound.

Same thing. It was the left speaker about a year ago, but it would come in and out. It started with crackling, so I just unhooked it and went with the right speaker for a while. Hooked it back up every now and then to check it out and it did finally work again. Then the right one started crackling a few days ago, so I unhooked it, then the left one started with the popping. Now both of them have basically crapped out, as of late last night. Watching tv with the CC on is not quite as interesting. I'm wondering how much new speakers generally sell for. The tv is almost 2 years old and works fantastic otherwise.

The sound goes out on these TV's after about 2 years. Dell is aware of the issue. They are working hard to ignore it. They no longer sell/support (Dell)TV's. They will offer to remedy the problem by selling you another (repaired?)TV for only 20% more than the price of a new one. I have called several times and sent several emails to customer (non)service. I sent an email to MD and finally got a response ( a flunkie sent a link to a repair place, they would not touch it). I think maybe it's time MD should get another email, or 2 or 3 or ?... SOURCE: DELL TV 32" LCD TV

the problem is the audio amp board has been fried. It needs to be replaced. This will restore the actual sound transfer to and from the speakers.

SOURCE: I have the same problem with my 3 year old Dell 32 inch Tv

The audio amplifier board has a number of components covered with a tough brown waxy, rubbery potting compound. Very careful and tedious removal of this compound exposed many corroded component solder joints. The problem created by this potting technique is apparently a common problem with this sound board. In my case cleaning the corrosion of the circuit board proved to correct the sound failure problem. (Not for the faint of heart).

I had the same problem with my dell tv. It's the exact same one you have. It kept making noise at first, and then the sound just went out. I changed the speaker wires to a slightly stronger, thicker wire and now it works great!! I hope this works for you.

If the amplifier itself is making the popping sound I suggest you disconnect it immediately, as it could be an electrical short within the amp. If the popping sound is actually coming from the speakers, it could be due to a crossed wire, blown amp channel, or blown speaker. If you posses the technical know-how, you can test the amp channel and speaker by connecting a different speaker to the channel responsible for the popping sound. If the new speaker makes the same popping noise then it is most likely a blown channel. I hope this helps =)

32'' Vizio LCD no picture or sound

Your filter capacitors have popped due to diodes shorting, P-channel FETs shorting from gate-to-drain. Pull-up resistors have changed value and as a result your capacitors have peaked (popped)....so now the tv is in protection mode to prevent further damage to your tv. Take it to your local shop for servicing, or take it back if its under warranty......

Makes an loud clicking/popping sound

The audio outputs are intermittently shorting to their supply and allowing DC voltage to pass - the speakers will be damaged if it continues. you can confirm this by measuring (with a dc voltmeter)at the speaker outputs for DC volts.

32 RCA makes popping sounds

It needs a new FLY BACK transformer. That is what you are looking at. The origionals are not made for the set any longer but insist on having a generic on installed by a local TV shop. I just put one into a RCA 31" and it works nice. Don't throw away the TV. Get it fixed. MAKE SURE YOU INSIST THEY USE THE GENERIC ONE! THEY DO WORK!
