Question about HP Compaq Presario V2000 Notebook
I am "repairing" my os on a Compaq Presario v2000 using the repair discs that came with the notebook new. Everything seemed to be going ok until I received a file needed" display. It states;
The file asma on Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 CD is needed.
Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK.
Copy file from: GLOBALROOT\DEVICE\CDROM0\1386
Any help would be appreciated
What happens when you cancel through the file needed error....? it looks like setup is looking for USB drivers...you should be able to cancel the install of those drivers and add them later when windows is up and running.....failing that t looks like the drivers it is searching for are in the i386 directory....so instead of copying file from "globalroot\device\etc\etc you should point the path to the i386 directory on the repair disk....possibly D:\i386\

a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
