Try to remove your hard drive. The company I work for uses mainly lenovo laptops and we have found if a hard drive goes faulty it will hang at this LENOVO screen. if you remove it and it progresses to the bios (it won't load windows since the hard drive is not in the laptop) you might need to consider replacing the hard drive and reinstalling windows.
Is the operating system Windows 7? How far does the laptop get when booting, do you see the 'Starting Windows' screen, do you get to the login screen?
The most drastic solution is to reinstall the laptop. The recovery partition can be reached by pressing F9 at boot time, you can do a reinstall of the default operating system, ONLY do this if you have your data on the laptop backed up FIRST. To access or copy files on the laptop you can download and create a rescue CD/USB key with Parted Magic: http://partedmagic.com/doku.php
I think the problem with your laptop is that the operating system on your laptop is corupt, that is why the windows is not responding. I will advice you reinstall the operating system on your laptop, if the operating system can be reinstall, the windows should work fine and respond.
before windows starts press f8 a couple of times to get into safemode. if windows doesn't load then you probably have to reinstall windows. If windows does start, try going into msconfig. Go to Start - Run then type in msconfig. click on the startup tab & try to remove some of the start up programs to see if thats the problem.
Either your hard drive is bad and needs to be replaced, or you have corrupt windows files. You can try running a repair by booting from the windows CD, or just simply re-install windows, but you will lose all data if you reinstall.
If you can't boot into safe mode then you have serious problems with the files on your hard drive, so try one of the 3 things and it should get fixed.(Try the repair first)
problem indicates corrupt windows files.you will have to nstall fresh operating system or run windows recovery to get it back to work.its nothing major, just a common operating system issue.gets solved with fresh installation easily.
may be some of your windows system file is got currupt, u can try by starting ur system in safe-mode. if it starts in safe-mode restore the system to privious date
start>> programmes>> accessories>>system tools>>system restore
