Won't play purchased or rented DVD

Player will not not play any pre-recorded DVDs. Will play home recorded DVDs. Talked to RCA technical support. They want hundreds of dollars to send it back and repair, but won't say what the problem is. I suspect that it is a regions problem, since pre-recorded DVDs are programmed to a specific region and home recorded DVDs have no region. Put in DVD. Window on player shows "Reading" then "Menu". TV shows Disc name etc. Click on play and player starts counting but TV goes blank. Player counts for 1 minute then starts counting over. Went through all the menus and screens trying to find a way to set region. No options found.

SOURCE: I have a dvd recorder/player Rca DRC8052N

you need the crack ! it seems that your players might have a onboard misfonction! it maybe coded for region 2,3 who knoes anyway try this its a workaround that usually works on lots of dvd players to unlock regions !

Press the title button on your remote, then hit 01. This will take you to the first title on the disc and bypass the region lock. To get to the main menu, do a chapter/title skip until you get to the end of the disc. This will take you to the main menu.

Can not play recorded dvds or record them

Dear Kjwj,

Maybe the player laser lens is dusty. You can try cleaning it with a CD/DVD lenses cleaner disc, like the one shown in the link below:

http://www.amazon.com/Memorex-32020029479-DVD-Lens-Cleaning/dp/B00008EM7U

I cannot provide info regarding the service mode codes because no information regarding the DVD player (brand and model) was provided.

Hope you may find this information useful!

Best regards,

Old dvds wont play in old or new player bought 3 brand ones still wont work what brand player shuld i buy tell me whats wrong

If you have purchased multiple dvd players and none of them will play your DVDs (including your old player which previously played the old DVDs), then your issue is with the DVDs. You have to replace them because they have been damaged or scratched and can't be read by the laser anymore. DVDs are not indestructible and can eventually be damaged beyond repair. You'll have to replace the DVDs, which makes more economic sense than buying multiple DVD players to try and play them. If these are home movies or personal recordings you should contact a local computer store about data recovery.

My samsung dvd player will not play dvds, but it

Are you trying to playing recordable DVDs (DVD+R or DVD-R) ? if so, try playing original DVDs (the type you rent or buy) those are pressed DVDs - if it works, then your player does not support DVD-R or DVD+R - If you are using a computer burner that supports bitsetting you can change the booktype of a DVD+R to DVD-ROM to fool your player.

If however your player cannot play either DVD-R, DVD+R nor original DVDs and only plays CDs, then your dvd laser diode is finished - there is one for CD and one for DVD, this is rare but happens, there is nothing you can do, any repairs would be very expensive - you are better off getting a new DVD player they are very inexpensive now and any repairs will cost you multiple times a new DVD player.

PLAYS PHOTOS AND AUDIO CD BUT NOT DVDS

Are you trying to play recordable DVDs like DVD-r or DVD+r ? If yes, then try playing ORIGINAL DVDs such as the ones you rent or buy, these are pressed DVDs - if it works, then your dvd player does not support DVD-R or +R - if it still does not work you may have a bad dvd laser diode - in this case you will need a new dvd player - any repairs would be very costly and cost you more than a new player which is very expensive now.

Dvd player wont recognize newly burned dvd

Give this a try : write a DVD at 1x speed (lowest speed) and test it on your laptop. If this works ok then either use better media or lower (e.g half) your writing speed........

First off this is not an HD dvd player it is a dvd player that has HD upconversion. secondly if you want to record a cable show you will need to push that into the dvd recorder with the a/v input.
