My progress is not saving on Professor Layton

Every time I save and shut down there is no record of my progress the next time I turn on the DS. It just shows up "new Game"

Yes I have the same problem. if i save it then start it up again straight away its ok but if you leave it an hour its all gone.

  • Sewflakes Jan 03, 2009

I have nearly completed this a couple of times but every time I save the game it is lost and I have to start again.

im having the same problem and i am saving it in my name and i make sure i do but it still comes up at the beginning as 'new game'

  • mandyque May 11, 2010

I already saved it to my named file, it didn't work.

  • Sewflakes May 11, 2010

This is not the solution as it still is not there when you sign in again even when you ensure it comes up saved before you close the game.

I had this problem and then I realised that when you click save, you then need to select which file you want to save (generally in your own name) it will then pop up with "progress saved" - simply selecting save is not enough

It seems to be if you have bought a very cheap copy (which might have come from China and maybe from eBay) that because it's a dodgy one. Try to get your money back?

My game does not stay saved when I shut down my DS

Naturally, this should not happen

If you're positive that you're saving the game correctly (saving through the Save option in the trunk and letting it finish saving), then there's a problem with your copy of the game

If you obtained a "second hand" copy through some place like eBay, then you likely have a pirated copy of the game (which are known to have a number of problems such as this one)

If you purchased it from a store, then take it back for a replacement (which is the only "fix" for this problem)

On a ds game such as Professor Layton where you save your progress to a file - how do you delete files?

All you have to do is click his briefcase on the top right. Click the quil and paper that says save. Then click the publication you wish to save it too. Hope this helps! (:

I can't save any progress on the Professor Layton nintendo ds lit

After clicking "save" make sure you wait until it's done saving. You should click save then wait a minimum 15 seconds. Put the DS down and check your fridge for some leftover noodles, come back and turn it off. You should never click "save" then turn off your DS moments later.

If it isn't that, then make sure you aren't accidentally shutting off during parts of the game where it autosaves.

Also, keep the game stored in a non-humid area that is fairly warm. It could be being read wrong.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village

The game doesn't have an option to erase save files

The best method is to merely overwrite the save files

It is possible to "erase" a save file by corrupting it (such as turning off the DS as it saves), but this should, of course, only be done at your own risk

A new file - professor layton

The game should, of course, overwrite existing saves without problem

While the game does have a few set save points, the best way to save (which can be done at any time) is to use the Save option in the trunk (some players forget about this)

If you save into a save slot doing this and it's not there when you next restart the game, then something is wrong

If you purchased the game "second hand" on eBay, then you may have ended up with a pirated copy (these have caused various problems for players including stopping during the game)

The game doesn't have an option to delete the save files

If you are confident that saving just isn't working and you're unable to return the game for replacement or refund, one drastic course of action may be to corrupt the save (by quickly turning off the DS while it saves), thus causing the game to say the save is corrupted and make a new save file ... naturally, this should only be done as a last resort

I can't unlock the Golden Apple's House!!!

To open the Golden Apple House, leave Ninteno DS turned on to the end of the game and let the credits run until you are told The End. Your Nintendo will then tell you it's saving your game, when you turn Nintendo back on The Golden Apple House is waiting for you in the Bonus section.
