Question about D-Link ADSL2/2+ Modem/Wireless Router 4-Port Switch, 802.11g, QoS (DSL-2640B)
Hi people im a bit hopeless when it comes to tech so hopefully some one can save me,i took my new router out of the box and inserted the instalation cd,step 1 was plug in router and turn on,i did that no problem.step 2 connect the router to the pc via the ethernet cable and port, then test leds are on then test connection.this is where i hit a problem as all the correct lights are on but while trying to connect it brings up a message 'pc ethernet cable is not connected properly' i have tryed an old ethernet cable that i know works and still the same message, can any boby help me out with any suggestions???
If you have plugged the ethernet cable directly into the motherboard, make sure the onboard lan is enabled in the bios, if you have plugged into a pci nic adapter you will have to install a driver for it, winxp should have the driver for your adapter other than that I cannot help any further.
best of luck
