Question about Toshiba MW27FN1 27 in. TV/VCR/DVD Combo
I am using the usual discs CD-R and it just comes up with a message saying the disc cannot be recorded or played. Also when I press the eject button it just says open and then does not do anything. I just wondered if anyone knew how to do a factory reset on toshiba?
I had to use the product title below as mine wasn't listed
This is a common problem for all combo units. The high voltage of the TV section attracts large amounts of particulate dust from the air and often it collects inside the DVD unit. The best way to deal with this is to clean the lens of the DVD unit u sing a cotton swab and alcohol. The store bought "cleaners" MAY work, but that is rare. These cleaners are nothing but small brushes embedded into a disc. They attempt to brush off hte dust. This rarely works. Open up the unit (if you feel comfortabel in doing so) to access the DVD section. Remove the top cover and carefully clean the lens. That should resolve the problem.

Hello, you can go to the toshiba web site and download the manual from there.
The other option is to go into the TV menu, and select the timer rec set selection and access it there and fill in the times for the program you want to recording and that should do it.
I hope tihs helps.

LOCAL TV REPAIR SAYS THAT, WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE DVD PLAYER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND WILL COST ABOUT $125 TO DO SO, WHICH IS NOT AN OPTION AS WE ONLY PAID $100 FOR THE WHOLE THING.

You need to make sure you close the DVD when you finish recording. Then put it in a PC and use Intervideo Win DVD to play it. My problem is that I am trying to convert it to an MP format so I can capture it with video software and make a movie. Not sure if I can save it in an MP format in the first place with my toshiba d-vr7kc dvd to vhs recorder. Do you know if this is possible?

remote codes are set by the manufacurer of the remote not the tv. if there are any others not listed in instructions for remote, the manufacturer of remote would have them. most combo unit are not able to be programmed into universal remotes due to the fact that there are alot of specialized function buttons on original remote. you can obtain a replacement remote thru toshiba
