My oven was not on, no-one was near it and it hadnot been damaged in anyway yet without warning there was a crack noise and the outer glass of the top oven shattered. It did not fall out and is still in place but shattered like a car windscreen. Could this be because of a fault when tempering the glass and can you confirm that the glass for this oven is tempered glass.
Are you aware of this happening before with this oven. The oven is 3 years old and as pensioners with just the 2 of us in the house we are very careful with our belongings.

Re: TKC 8522/2 top oven outer door shattering
It is not a fault with the door, and this sort of event occurs quite often, so is not uncommon.
All sorts of things can cause this, sudden change in temp, getting the glass wet whilst it is still hot, a knock or bang form an earlier time could have weakened the glass.
The list is quite long..
Depending on your household insurance, some policys cover for breakage of glass fittings, would be worth checking.

power to the main oven has to go through the oven clock if time is not set main oven will not work also if clock set on auto time rather than manual oven will not work conversley if clock is faulty it will not work top oven is unaffected as oven clock auto timer cannot be used on top oven.try resetting power of and on again reset time on clock if clock not faulty oven will now work.
Lisa, I do not have a solution, but have the same problem. My KA superba micro has been used about 10 times. While it was off, and while no one was home, the outer glass in the door shattered. I suspect this may be a defect.
I doubt you will get it cheaper any where, Zanussi is a bit of a closed shop.
If you can let me have the exact model no and the er number, I might be able to help you.
As for the reason it shattered, there are numerous reasons for this to happen, too many to go into, but it is a very common problem with cookers..
They do just go without any warning.
A cold kitchen could indeed be a factor, a badly fitting door is another factor, i could go on and on and on!!!!!
There is no one thing it can be put down to.
Plz let let me have the details I ask, and I will see what I can come up with.
