In asus P5GL-MX mother board the power supply regulator ic 2 piece has been damaged (short) how would i know plz help me

Hi if the regulator ic has been damaged in your power supply even you replace that there are some electronic component where also damage because the ic will not damage where there is no over voltage flow on it. This means there are some resistor or a transistor is also shorted it advisable to replace a new one than to repair your power supply. Because even you repaired it the performance and the life span of your power supply is not stable. So it better to replace a new one.

Check your power supply. It appears to have been damaged by the Lightning, for a quick solution, smell the power supply and if it smells of burnt carbon, you can be assured it is damaged and needs to be repaired/replaced.Pray that you dont have damage to the equipment that was connected to the supply.

Your reasoning about the switch mode power supply being damaged is probably right.
Bear in mind that this power supply may not be the only thing that may be damaged in your computer.
You won't know for sure until you borrow a power supply and install it into your computer to see if it will work again.

Hp 763n, the computer crashed and I got a bad burning small for the 200w power supply. Do you think any other damage was done or I could just replace the power supply?

Hello
Usually The motherboard and other components are protected by the power supply first.

So no i doubt you have any other damage. You need to consider what caused the power supply to burn up.Maybe you need a bigger one.

Have a good day.

Power surge, TV will not turn on

Power surges are extremely unpredictable, they can damage everything inside the tv, from the power supply printed circuit board, to the main printed circuit board. Normally the power supply takes alot of the damage from these things, so check over the power supply for any damaged components, any burnt out parts on printed circuit board, and also check the fuse. Good luck.
