Get the latest drivers from the Buffalo Asia website. They have more and later drivers than the U.S. website. Here a link to the drivers for the Buffalo AirStation™ N150 Wireless USB Adapter - model WLI-UC-GNM:
Make sure you are on Windows 8 Desktop. Try download the Buffalo WLI-UC-GNM_E-105 driver and run setup.exe with XP SP3 compatible. After the installation, your Wireless-N150 Ultra-Compact USB 2.0 Adapter will be working fine in OS Windows 8.

"fell free to ask further help friend...am here to guide u based on computers:-)"
The security for the wireless is set up on the device providing the wireless network. Im assuming its the WLI device? You will need to log into that device to setup the security on it. Feel free to comment back so i can assist you further!!
From Device Manager right click on your wireless adapter and select 'Properties'. Click the 'Power Management' tab and uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'.
If this doesn't help then first try Rolling back the wireless adapter driver. If still no joy make sure Windows 7 has all the latest updates installed and you have the latest driver for your wireless adapter.
Is it possible to install or re-install the latest service packs for XP? Or one thing that may work is can you restore Win XP to an earlier state before this happened(be sure to save all data), then install service packs at that point? Also, is your BIOS on the computer at its latest version?
There should have been drivers with it when you bought it. If not, here's a link:

If you install these drivers, your computer should detect the device.
You will, though, still need a modem to be able to connect to the internet.
I hope this helps, and if not, post back here,
Yannick.
