There's a bunch of manuals on bittorrent. It's called Toshiba Techtip
Also the book The Laptop Repair Workbook: An Introduction to Troubleshooting and Repairing Laptop Computers by Morris Rosenthal is a great guide. His other books are very informative as far as starting a computer repair business.

Here is the website to download a manual if you would like to see the complexity of the task or proceed.

Every laptop is different, like a jigsaw puzzle. You usually need a service manual to guide you through disassembly, especially if you have never opened a laptop before. It is not like opening a desktop. Everything, even the screws, must be put back EXACTLY as they were found. I do not recommend you try this by yourself as a first time project unless you are willing to lose the machine. Also there are not many user-serviceable parts inside so I wonder why you would want to open the laptop in the first place.

With that said, you need to provide the BRAND and MODEL of the laptop for specific guidance. Also describe the problem you are trying to solve, as you may not have to open the laptop to fix it.

The turn on/off button on the machine was mashed in and now will not work. The machine won't turn back on. I want to open the case to reset the button.

The pin that u put the charger in has went back in the laptop. how to open it to get to it to fix it.

The power socket on a laptop is usually soldered directly to the mainboard. Sometimes the socket is on a seperate smaller daughterboard or on a cable that connects to the mainboard, but usually this is not the case. Opening the laptop to perform this repair can be very trick and time consuming. I would certainly not recommend an amateur attempting this repair as usually the entire board needs to be removed, the socket de-soldered and a new socket soldered in place. Not for the faint hearted! If you wish to provide laptop model details I may be able to provide the screw locations etc and disassembly guide.

It will not charge or turn on at switch.sat. L-45 any suggestions?

sounds like a Maxim power driver failure. You'll need to do a redistributive resolder. Check out this tutorial for Toshiba m35 laptop main board repair of the Maxim 1987 power chip. This is a fairly common problem with plenty of Toshiba and HP laptop models, and experience the same symptoms that you list. Hope this helps.

My toshiba dynabook satellite 2140 says you need a disc to update your BIOS..what should i do?and my son accidentally sprinkled some water on the keyboard..is there a possibility to fix the problem or...

No, do not throw away. completely dry and try again. You can sometimes use a USB keyboard. REplacement keyboards for laptops are surpirisingly cheap, not counting install, but typically install is not serious, often no case opening...Toshiba, however, is sometimes a different story.....

A note about computers, Lower cost and seriously better stability are the reason to look at a new computer. Essentially, with an old machine, you put most of the cost of a new machine into repairs. but you still have an old machine....... Which will fail someday....

ALWAYS back up your data and All user files, like contact lists...E-mail addresses....

Laptop won't run on ac power and keeps shutting down

Check that the AC power works, go to a repair shop and test a different one or have voltages checked with a multimeter.

If the AC adapter is fine, then it is usuall because AC socket solder joints on laptop are broken. In this case , it is a delicate repair, and must be done by an expert repairman.
