Same problem with cyan. it says ink empty, but there is plenty of ink actually in it. won't let me clean because it's stuck on the alarm "cyan empty" and prevents anything else from being done.

My Brother MFC-240C has BRAND NEW INK Cartridges from BROTHER but the LCD keeps saying, "No Cartridge" Open ink Cartridge cover, then reinstall ink Cartridge. Everytime I open the cover and take out the Ink Cartridges then reinstall the Ink Cartridges, it still gives me the same error message even if I unplug the unit and plug it back in. This PRINTER SUCKS!!!!!!!!

You will receive messages like this if you are using remanufactured or compatible items. If the machine will not let you print, you most likely have a defective cartridge. Try to turn the machine off, restart, and do a print test. With low quality recycled cartridges, they sometimes don't have proper chipping (the microchip that tells your printer what the ink level is) and it can cause this error as well. Most of the time you should still be able to print. If restarting the machine doesn't fix the problem, you should be able to contact your cartridge vendor and have them send you a replacement. For Quality remanufactured and compatible items, contact MTek, INC at 866-345-2737 or visit -customer service

My machine is printing but there is nothing printed on the paper when it comes out and all ink is new

First make sure you have removed any packing tape from ink cartridge.
Second look into ink cartridge slot on printer and make sure nothing is blocking installation of ink cartridge.

Be aware that your Brother machine is designed to stop ALL printing operations when any of the ink cartridges are empty.

My brothers mfc 240c printer wont print because one ink is not full but it has black

You need to have ink in all cartridges to print. You can put a small electrical tape over the little window on the cartridge to print with empty inks, but you risk an air bubble in the ink tubes. If you don't care about printing color at some time, just cover the window on empty carts.

Hi, i think during the process of changing the cartridges, the top lid on the ink cartridge that clips or keys the cartridge down inside the printer has been broken and needs to be replaced.

I suggest you get a technician to help get a replacement for this. With this your printer should be in other.

Mfc-240c reading offline and empty black

Regarding your problem: If one of the color ink cartidges is out of ink, the MFC 240C printer will not operate when you only install a black ink cartidge. It requires that all four catridges have ink available in them for it to function. When you examine a cartridge it may appear that it has a little ink in it when you get message that the cartridges needs to be replaced because a little ink remains to prevent the print head from drying out.

Brother mfc 240c does not recognise new cartridges have been installed and gives message that no black cartridge and colors are near empty, new genuine cartridges have been installed.

this is what i did as a last resort after messing with this stupid printer all day and changing cartridges and getting a no cartridge message.
i took all of the ink cartridges out and took a pair of pliers and pulled out what i think must be the sensors. they are black plastic pieces toward the top part of the ink area. then i put the cartridges back in and i have been printing ever since. this was my last resort before i was prepared to throw in the towel so that was why i went at it with the pliers!

Message: "Ink empty black" --won't reset

this could be because of generic ink carts which do not have the size of the original ones. If so put some paperstrip beneath the cart to lift it up a bit.
Anyway, did you tell the printer that you have changed the cart by pressing 1? Look at the display when you insert the cart!
