Question about Computers & Internet
I have a hp 530 notebook that cant boot from a cd drive, the BIOS settings are right and i have tried upgrading it but it didnt solve the problem.i have installed ubuntu 8.10 through USB and the drive is working properly so that rules out the possibility of the drive being spoilt.its not a new drive but it is th e one the notebook was bought with and was booting properly until once when the problem just popped up and started disturbing.installing via USB is qwuite a problem and it leaves me dependent on other computers and i really want this problem fixed.
There is one possible reason for this issue
Open the computer case and find the battery on the computer motherboard, verify that it will be accessible and that it can be removed. Most computers today use a coin cell CMOS battery. Removed the battery and put it back. This will reset the BIOS setting to default. Change the setting and select first boot device as CD ROM. If that doesn’t work then replace the CMOS battery. After replacing the CMOS battery please change the BIOS setting and select first boot device as CD-ROM.
