Question about Canon PIXMA MP600 all-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Can't find listed the type of mini printer that I think exists!

Firstly I am not sure if your inquiry service is free to users I do not wish to pay for the advice I am seeking so please notify if that is the case - I am not looking for a technical repair (which I would obviously pay for) just a brief item of information if you are able. So if you can help....

I believe that I have seen in a magazine or some such a printer displayed that was no larger that perhaps a rolled up umbrella and that would fit in my briefcase. As I remember it the gismo prints only single A4/A5 sheets fed in one at a time. This kind of item would be really useful for me when I run workplace mediations - as we need copies to run off and sign by the end of the day and the nature of the material is confidential so I am loathe to ask the hotel or conference center to print them for me for security reasons (and sometimes they refuse for IT security reasons). Someone in PC World said he thought that Cannon did one such hand held printer but they did not know who stocked them. I can't find anything on Canon or other internet sites smaller that a normal ink jet desktop printer - and I did used to take my portable Canon i80 with me to events but even that - though pretty small - is really a full desktop printer and more than I need to carry around simply to produce up to maybe 12 + copies at any event. Then I came across your interesting site - while searching - and thought I would try it - so wonder if you have any info that would help on any such hand portable and supplier (I live in UK - North Wales, Angelsey). Thanks - Marcelas

Thanks for the very detailed response - seems like there's a gap in the market for someone enterprising! For the rest I will have to get by with borrowing someone else's printout facilities on such occasions...but will keep my eye on market - thanks for your speeedy response much apprciatied

Canon made two portable printers, the BJC-50 (1998) and the BJC-55 (2000) which were about two thirds the size of the i80 that you have - 11.9 x 2 x 4.4 in. They are pretty old, and getting drivers for current OSs may be a challenge (I can't find any newer than Windows XP or Mac OS9). Amazon is showing a listing for a couple of used BJC-50s for $159.

How do i download oce 5200 service manuals

User manuals most of the time are free on the website. Service manuals, only will be sold. Lots of firms only sell the service manuals to certified technicians or certified service stations. Sometimes you find a manual in PDF format on the net, but I don't think with OCE you will have any luck. Be aware, the websites who offer free manuals, most of the time want you to install some software, and in the end you still won't have any PDF, that looks like a service manual.
You could try with OCE, but even if you want to pay, a slim chance they will deliver.

Can i fax using my cable modem without a phone line hooked up

You can not fax directly from you printer with out a phone line. However, there are a number of on-line fax services you can use. Just go to Google and type in "online fax", you will get a whole list of them. Some are free some are pay services. You will have to enter your information you want faxed on the page, so it is not as convenient as faxing directly.

Hope this helps.

How to install on Windows Vista

Yes Virginia there is a free driver but no guarantees about Santa.
I don't know what type of printer you have "Dot-Matrix" or "Laser" so click on the first link below and pick which one you have. The second link is a list of installation guides which you may find helpful if your printer is listed. The Windows 9x Driver should do the job for you.
Hope this helps. If you have any problems please let me know and I'll try and help.

"parts inside your printer are near end of serviceable life"

Please go to my website http://www.the-inkstore.co.uk . I have the latest version of SSC Service Utility to download directly onto your computer and instructions on how to use it, what to click on etc etc. Click any of the Epson links if you can't find it, everything you need to know will be there, including printer Firmware resetting which sorts out a multitude of problems.

The 'maintenance required' problem with Epson printers has absolutely nothing to do with which cartridges you are using, it is a built in page counter in your printer firmware, which has a different maximum amount for each Epson model. Don't listen to old wives tales and heresay, we are the experts and it's an Epson scam to cause a lot of people to pay for maintenance or throw their printers away.
I haven't found a model that can't be reset with the latest version of SSC Serve or the manual reset on my site.

For Epson RX500 users there is also a manual reset on my site, as the SSC Serve software won't do it for you.
When using the program & choosing your printer from the list, it may have a weird name with 'x' in the model number, this is because some configurations are for many models in a series. For example, the C46 will be listed as C4x as it is for the C42, C44 & C46 models.

I hope this helps all Epson users to overcome the Epson scam of page counting and locking out until you pay their dealers money for maintenance.

If you like what I've done for Epson users, please show your appreciation by spreading the word and perhaps buying your ink from my site.

YOU KNOW I THINK IT REALLY SUCKS THAT YOUR HAVE

well...that can be a troubling issue. perhaps that's where the revenue is in PC land, since it's obviously NOT on the sale of the actual product.I've found, in over 30 years of Help Desk training, that the FREE advice is just that. FREE. As far as whether it's helpful, I align with stock market wisdom. You truly and surely, get what you do or do NOT pay for.
