turn (only by 2 to 5 degrees ) all the knobs on flyback transformer in clockwise direction & then switch on tv .............you will get picture atleast for 1 or 2 mins ............ this confirms only flyback transformer is defective ........ so it has to be replaced by new one .................otherwise transistor (big in size fixed near flyback with its back clamped or screewed to aluminium metal ) has to be checked ......if that is also fine then complete main board has to be checked ...... but flyback replacement is a must ........in your case iam 100 % sure only flyback is deffective ...........
I have a Sony SRS BBE Trinitron (WEGA). The last few days when I tried to turn it on using the remote the Red Light would go on but the TV did not turn on. I would have to press the power button again to turn it on.. I tought the remote battery was just low.
Today when I tried to turn it on nothing is happening and the Red Light is blinking 9 times ??? I tried to unplug it and try it again, still does the same thing ???
I had the same problem and took it apart. Before the repair there was no "click" when I pushed the button, a clue to the problem. The on-off button on the front pushes a weakly made angle piece of plastic inside which had broken. The plastic piece in turn is supposed to push an internal switch which is offset to one side.
I used epoxy (Araldite) to repair the broken plastic angle piece, but it still looks weak to me so I switch the tv off at the wall and leave the on-off button alone (though it does work now).
Opening the case requires some knowledge and care, and can be dangerous. It may void the warranty so be careful or give it to a qualified repair person.
