Question about NEC MultiSync 1940CX 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Strange behavior I just bought this monitor about a week ago. I needed it quick and it was the only one in the store that had certain features I was looking for. It was the display model. They had no box or docmentation for it. I thought I might risk it and buy the thing- The Price was good. Anyway, I am mostly hapy but now it is starting to behave strangly. I am using it as a second monitor on a mac ibookG4. Two things have begun to happen. One: it sometimes jitters just slightly with the focus just going out of allignment and bluring text intermitantly. 2nd : It has begun to leave a window on the screen after activation which reads: Video input 1 D- SUB. I think it is the same window that always used to come up whenever the monitor was activated yet it used to go away after about one second now it remains until I press the select button on the monitor (choosing the time the diolouge screen remains in the menu options has no effect on this window. I do not believe these issues are realted but would appreciate any suggestions as to either cause. I have no software or user manual -software would be useless anyway since I have it hooked to a Mac. Ihave tried making sure the plug is well connected which seems to help temporarly for problem one (the jitter). No idea what to do about the other - I do not want to manually have to eliminate this widow everytime I active the monitor.

Identical problem. Monitor is 18 months old.hooked to 6 mo old Gateway desk top PC. Running windows Vista Premium. Switched to a Compaq PC. Problem doesnt occur. Also checked NEC driver updates. Shows none avaliable for this model. Also changed cords from PC to monitor. Also went thru and changed all settings. All to no avail.

The problem could be a failing magnetron or control board. The tingle may be traceable to a faulty receptacle installation - one with a floating ground or incorrect wiring such as reversal of the hot and neutral lines. The vibrating sound seems to be one of the quirks of GE microwaves.

I a week ago bought a insignia 42inch 1080 LCD tv and love it but I need 2 know what do I need 2 use the pc feature ..... So far I have Internet , a netgear router , hd cable tv what else do i need ?

The PC feature is so that you can use the TV as a monitor for your PC, not so you can use the TV AS
a PC.
To use it as a monitor, you need a mini-D15 male to male VGA cable and a 1/8 inch stereo male to male audio cable.

Cannot renew IP address on some PCs, each day it's a different PC in my house. This started happening a couple weeks ago.

It is a router's default behavior to lock some IPs to a particular PC which are usually using it on the network. It is a leasing feature. Example, if your PC is using 192.168.0.125, and your IP range in your router is 192.168.0.100 - 255, every time you connect, though you are alone in the network and no other PCs are connected, still your router will lease 192.168.0.125 to you unless otherwise you disable this leasing feature in your router's admin interface. Renewing IP from the computer side do not alter the router's leasing policy. So right clicking on the network icon and selecting Renew IP won't help. What you need to alter is your router's IP leasing behavior.

Strange delay.

I'm having the exact same strange delay problem as you.
I fixed my delay when I too took my machine to your girlfriends. LOL!

No seriously.... you solved your delay problem yourself when you UNPLUGGED the power cord from the back of the monitor.

My guess is that when you unplug the power cord, the monitor resets itself. It's only a temporary fix, but, IT WORKS.

1. Turn the monitor OFF
2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor
3. Wait 10-15 seconds or so
4. Plug the power cord back in
5. Turn your monitor ON........DELAY ELIMINATED.

The delay returns eventually, but, I just unplug-n-replug and I'm good to go again.
