Question about Audio Players & Recorders
I had the exact same problem with my Windows XP when trying to interface with my new Samsung YP-Q1 16GB. Hey, it took a bit of Forum searching but it can be done.
Load your Emodio software from the supplied CD.
Download Windows Media Player 10 or above (important)
Plug in your MP3 Player to USB port (hopefully your USB ports are USB2.0 otherwise you'll need to see if you can upgrade their drivers to make them USB2)
If, as with mine, its still not appearing as a portable device in Windows Media Player or EMODIO
then
Go to Control Panel. (I prefer Classic view where you can immediately see Add Hardware Wizard)
Run Add Hardware Wizard. searches for new Hardware. Prompts for is Hardware connected?)
Look at list of devices Q1 should appear as yellow Q1?
Highlight Q1 and continue.
Prompted for dowload of MTP file.
Install file.
Hey presto....
Worked for me anyway although Emodio software still had problems writing to Q1, Windows Media Player had no such problem.

You need to have windows media players 10 or higher to make the player working on windows

I had the same problem, and poked a cocktail stick in the reset button for ten seconds and it was fine after that (with no loss of data.)

I've been searching this Samsung YP-Q1 PC can't find the device problem off and on for a couple of months now. Bedwetter nailed it!! I had already set up with Samsung for a device swap. Now I don't need to. Thanks Bedwetter.

I have exactly the same problem, no matter which version of EmoDio is installed. The links in Samsungs support guide that direct you to Samsung Manuals and Drivers don't work and the email help requires a model to be selected from a pick list but the YP-Q1 is not listed. Samsumg you have really dropped the ball. If this is how Samsung supports their products the new big screen TV I'm buying tomorrow will be a Sharp.
My sister has the sam problem I am looking at it now. dont get me wrong its a nice looking unit but if you cant connect it to the computer what good is it. Got to samsung support page and click the link regarding can install it and it tells you to read the manual WTF
Look at the manual and it says to insert the disk and install it.
3 works on the product installation and support a load of ####!! If you are looking for an MP3 player buy an iPod it works!!!
i hacve the same problem when i took it back 2 argos they said they will repair it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No money back im gettin it 2dau so hopefully it woks
when i first plugged the mp3 with my pc, it worked well. but now it's only the second time and regardless how i update the Emodio and read the manual is of no use!
the window guide will prompt me for drivers update but i could not find it.
this is frustrating!
i've been in regular contact with samsung uk. they first told me to uncheck the power management on the usb comntroller. Then they instructed me to run a windows update. Then asked me to run a manual download of windows mtp porting kit. All had no effect. Waitng for their next pearl of wisdom
when i plug my ypq1 into the computer - it dosnt recognise it or ask for software installation
the only difference between now and last time is a firmware update
I have a similar but unusual problem. I don't like install unnecessary software so I was hoping that XP would recognise my newly purchased YP-Q1 as a removable drive. The weird thing is that it worked perfectly as soon as I plugged into the USB port on my laptop at work (running Win Media Player 9 btw), but on my home laptop it can't find the driver on/in Windows. Why is this, and is there a solution (apart from installing big lumpy software). Thanks.
Yeah. Such an annoying fault. It's fine on VISTA at my workplace but cannot identify it on bo-standard windows at this internet cafe. What a bugger. Maybe a driver online somewhere? Grrrr!
i've just got the same problem.
i bought it during easter and i plugged it in earlier on and its not recognising the device!
its completely flat on battery aswell and i really need it for tomorrow.
gah! this is annoying "/
