I've lost the user manual to my Insignia 32" LCD TV. How do I connect my DVD player? I'm trying to follow the directions from the DVD player user's manual, but am unable to get it connected properly.

Picture in picture operation & connection to dvd player

Now--first--connect the DVR cable box HDMI output to the HDTV HDMI input (use the lowest numbered one e.g. HDMI 1) for this connection. Use a standard (not Monster brand) HDMI cable for this connection. Then turn on the TV, turn on the cable box and switch the TV to the HDMI input. A picture should come on. You may even hear the audio on the TV speakers. If so, that is OK.

Then--connect the component video output of the DVD HT to the TV component 1 input. Use a three wire component video cable with red, blue and green connectors on each end. Connect color to color on both ends. Then turn on the DVD, put a DVD in the player and start it running. Switch the TV to the component input and it should show a pix. The audio will come from the DVD player speakers.

If your DVD player does have an HDMI output, you can use it and just connect as above to the second TV HDMI input.

To get audio from the cable box out of the DVD player speakers, you will need to connect an audio cable from the cable box go the HT amplifier. Use a set of RCA patch cables and go from the analog audio output of the cable box to the rear panel audio inputs of the DVD player. The owners manual for this unit will give directions on using this input. Since your HT unit does not have any other inputs, you will not be able to get Dolby Digital audio.

Hope this gives you food for thought. If so, and you have more questions, just come back in with a follow up.

Good luck. Remember, the owners manuals all have hook up connections diagrams. Sometimes they will help.

Hi! I have a used CRT TV Mod. 28PT4457/01. The TV channels behave as they should, but I cannot get any signal to the display from neither the Video (antenna cable to Video/In, Antenna cable from Video/Out...

Hi.

The only non-obvious thing to check from user level point of view is the PAL/NTSC settings on TV and devices, but if the TV is in use on the country of purchase, and if you get the same problem using different devices, then this should not be the problem.

If the TV does not display any input, and you are sure that the source/input selector button on remote is working, then the TV has a fault signal board, that on this models should be integrated on the digital board. The TV in that case must be fixed by a technician.

Try connecting the DVD directly (bypassing cable box), using a SCART that you know is working. If you cannot see the DVD display after selecting EXT1 and EXT2 , then it is a faulty signal input on TV.

Ensure that the problem are not cables.

Try also the following:

  1. Disconnect TV power cord.
  2. Disconnect DVD power cord.
  3. Connect DVD using SCART on EXT1.
  4. Connect again power cords.
  5. Turn DVD on.
  6. Turn TV on two minutes after DVD is on.

If yous still cannot watch the DVD signal, then the TV is faulty.

Regards.

G.

Some dvd players do not have the switching line fro your tv to automatically select scart input but you will be able to select via the tv remote if there are no buttons marked av it can be an oblong with an arrow pointing inwards or you may have to select via the source menu on the tv if you have your original handbook it will give a helpline number for Asda.SUPER8.

I have just purchased a Toshiba Integrated Digital LCD TV and I can't seem to run my DVD and Video player through the TV. I'm probably not connecting it right, but don't know what else to try. Thanks for...

The DVD and video player have HDMI. Component, S-Video and RCA audio/video output connections that need to be connected to the appropriate inputs on your TV. You select the type of connector and cable to use.

HDMI provides the best quality, if available and works for both audio and video.

The TV's, DVD's and video player's manuals describe how in detail. Look at the connection instructions and diagrams. You then must select the correct input on the TV to play each source.

Hi guys, don't know if the previous post got through. Have a new LCD tv and DVDr, connected with a HDMI cable. when DVDr switched off analogue and digital picture is fine. as soon as dvd is switched on...

yes, hdmi will give you better results..
are you running hdmi to hdmi connection on tv from cable box?
if so, that is correct but as for the dvdr, what tv port are you connecting it to? i would use another hdmi cable for the dvd too for best picture resultif it's an option on your dvd.. you should have multiple input outlets on your lcd with 1-3 options for input devices via analog or hdmi.. so analog is not hdmi--hdmi is digital so it switches to the hdmi resolution when you turn it on..

let me know how it goes and if i was helpful involving resolution.. helpful feedback is appreciated.. thanks, d

your dvd player should be set to a different
