Question about Memorex MSP-BX1600 CD Boombox

My son got a brand new memorex MSP-BX1600 CD Boomball

We put the CD in and it will start to turn and then there's no sound and then it comes up with a message on the screen saying CD and the CD then stops. What is the problem sinces this is a brand new boomball. Please help because my son is heart broken because this is what he got from his Aunt for his birthday on Saturday. What are some suggestion because we got it at Target in Garden City KS and we called them and they said they don't have anymore. So what would you do since my spouse lost the recept for this item and they will not take it back without the recept. So please help my little boy so he's not heart broken any more.

Hi What a sad story! I read that Target has no more of this model, but they won't give you your money back? At least then you could buy another one somewhere else. Where I am we don't have a Target, so I can't say what their return policy is like, but I've taken things like that back to Walmart, without receipt or original box, and they have never given us a hard time! Anyway....It is rare for these units to not work right out of the box, but it happens, the only thing I can say is make sure the disk is not being put in upside down, which happens alot, and that it is not badly scratched or covered in finger prints, barring those two situations, check the manual under troubleshooting or frequently asked questions normally found at the back of the book. Barring those possibilities, the unit is indeed defective, and the best hope then is if you have a local Memorex authorized repair depot, even without the receipt, they can check the date it was made, and possibly repair it under warranty. Which is the best for a CD player with Big Earphones..New Durabrand, Memorex or Coby..or Sony?

Cheap CD/DVD/Blu-ray players are all the same. They come with ear phone ports for most all types of head sets and any type work OK. The best bet is to go to an electronics store (BestBuy) and try some before to buy any.

You may have bought a bad batch of CD's. Try returning the CD's you have and inform them you get nothing but errors. Than, purchase a new set of CD's. These brands usually work fine: TDK, Sony, and Verbatim. Stay away from 3M/Imation CD's. They're full of errors.

I have a memorex stereo, turntable, 3 cd changer etc. The standby light comes on but no sound, it is only 2 yrs old..

Sometimes you have to unplug it for about 30 seconds, then when you plug it in press the power on button. If there is still no sound, check the speaker connections on the back they sometimes come loose.

Brand new one won't open

try to put needle to small hole on front face of drive, but I recommend you to take warranty and get new drive, sometimes you buy faulty new things, that is normal, when almost every hardware is made in China...

You prolly got a bad batch return them and choose another brand and yes there refundable or exchangeable... Try a diffrent brand disk ask I had troubles with Memorex and now i use lightscribe and i am glad I did and so would you.. Thanks Rulds2008

hi there, it maybe the jack were you used headphones, try to replace the jack and see if there are some cold solder at the amplifier section. test some parts. ty
