Re: monitor

The computer is not accepting the card drivers or resolution out of range may need start in safe mode then reinstall the drivers for the monitor. To start in safe mode you need to press the f8 button while starting up the PC. choose safe mode and wait for the PC to start up... right click my computer then choose properties and hardware and device manager.. look for the display driver and uninstall it..then re-install it and se if it works

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this helps

I have it plugged into my laptop but it just reads 'no signal' - what software do I need to make laptop communicate with monitor?

if your laptop has the correct connection you dont' need any software. on the laptop look for the Fn key usually lower left of the board. hold that down and look to the "F" keys at the top of the board for a picture of a monitor or word LCD. hit that. this will toggle the display mode.

if this doens't work leave the monitor on the unit. turn the unit off and then boot back up. this will auto recognise the monitor. further advanced options can be foudn in your display setting area of the control panel

Princeton Monitor is "out of range"

The monitor is not getting a video signal. This is probably an issue with your computer. It could be a memory, hard drive or motherboard issue.

Make sure you are getting power to the pc (fans running, hard drive spinning...etc). Then check your memory. Try switching memory slots, or try different memory.

Turn on computer and see if you hear any bios beeps.

Try a different hard drive if you have one.

Good luck,

Acer 1716 seems to start but will not pick up signal from OS

There probably is an error in the hard drive, since its not booting up. I would replace the hard drive, or take it to your local computer repair shop. I hope this helps!

Emachine destop not recognising acer lcd monitor

It sounds more like the computer isn't starting up. The "no signal" message is coming from the monitor itself to tell you it's on but there's nothing coming in to display. Normally no special drivers are required for the monitor, and you'd see at least the computer maker's splash screen and BIOS messages if the computer was starting up properly.

You'll need to determine what is keeping the computer from starting up. Make sure it's getting AC power and that the power light comes on when you press the front panel power button. You may need a power supply. If the computer comes on but doesn't boot you may have memory problems or trouble with the motherboard. But your monitor is working properly.

If you want to reset your monitor itself to factory settings usually taking of teh power by pulling the plug for more than 10 minutes should do it.
If you have resolution problems or other issues related to the software just reinstall the software that came with the monitor adn if that doesnot solve your problem reinstall your videocard drivers or check manufacturers website for updates.

Dell Monitor comes on but no picture

The monitor isn't getting a signal from the computer, which is why the power indicator goes orange. There are two possibilities:

1) The computer isn't operating correctly. It may not be starting up at all when you turn it on, and you have a "no boot" problem to solve, or

2) The computer is working properly, shows all the signs of normal startup (hard drive activity, Windows startup sound from speakers, etc.). but video isn't reaching the monitor. There may be a problem with the video card (or on the system board if it's integrated video). Or the monitor itself is bad and not detecting the video. You can test this by connectng a known good monitor.

Gateway FPD1760TFT LCD monitor

1. turn on computer
2. monitor receives signal, it looks like its working
3. it goes through some steps and then the monitor says "no signal" and kind of stays in limbo with fans running, etc.

One possibility is that computer is looking for drivers for you video card. It could be hung up looking in the wrong places. Remove all peripheral hard drives and memory sticks. Try again.
